It will be cool enough to do the regular Moraga ride next Tuesday. With any luck I will have the parts in to complete the Basso so that I can take it on a hard climbing ride.

Otherwise I will be condemned to riding the Moser which is a great riding bike but doesn't like gravel on the road. Hopefully there will be enough traffic on that route by now to have cleaned off all of the gravel. Otherwise it is like having the brakes applied every couple hundred yards. When I stop to look where the stones are they fall out of their own accord so I have to pretend that it was my imagination and carry on.

2400 feet of climbing with grades up to 10 or 11% in some areas. But starting from the Golf Course it's only 25 miles. There are other longer and steeper roads but I haven't been on them for awhile because of the heat. There's also the traffic problem in places like Niles Canyon that has at least two places with no shoulder at all and where you're forced into the traffic lane with cars driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. I guess I could always go up to Montclaire and climb Snake Rd and then down big Pinehurst which would have some 15% sections on the climbing. Or Butters Rd. that has 10% sections for a mile or so. Or the north side of Palomares which is a killer climb that I never saw anyone else on until the Freewheelers were holding a time trial from the south entrance of Palomares and I came over the top 12% section at the same time as a finisher. After that, while not common, it was not uncommon to see young riders testing their merit on that route.

These routes are easier with the normal bay area climate though I am sure that certain idiots believe that we have climate change because a 13 year old girl and a 57 year old moron who had the unmitigated gall to change the weather record in order to prove his predictions correct and land another government research grant say so.
