Amazon will automatically connect your devices to something called
Sidewalk Network. Fortunately, I don't happen to own any of them. The article talks about Ring and Echo devices. It has a link to a list.

Any "bridge" connection to the outside has the potential to be
exploited to steal bandwidth (in addition to the bandwidth that
it "expectedly" consumes).

A device can tunnel to an external server which can then act as
a proxy for <whatever> traffic -- thereby obfuscating the actual
traffic and its endpoint. E.g., if you saw traffic destined for
spammersRus.com at your router, you'd recognize it as unwanted.
But, if that was tunneled under a connection to amazon, google,
mybabymonitor.com, etc. you'd be hard pressed to notice that it
wasn't "baby monitor" traffic.

Moral: don't have devices that talk to the outside world
unless you don't care what they transport!
