Planetary climate, for all planets in the solar system, is dependent on the extent of the respective North/South Arctic and Antarctic circles and their distance from the rotational poles. The greater the distance, like Uranus, the wilder the swings in surface conditions across latitudes, whereas planets with smaller circles like Jupiter have benign conditions across an orbit. The Earth is in-between with climate towards the Equatorial end of the spectrum-

The expansion and contraction of circles where the Sun is entirely in view or out of sight dictates the widest circle across latitudes hence Arctic and Antarctic circles, however, it is the expansion and contraction over the course of an orbit and the rate of change that defines planetary climate.

Unfortunately, our society chooses to stick with the Tropic of Capricorn/Cancer instead of the Arctic and Antarctic circles to suits truly awful notions of the Sun wandering up and down against the Earth's Equator on an Earth with a zero degree inclination and a pivoting dark/light hemispheres off the Equator-

Rather than retain something that is on its way out, hopefully as soon as possible, it is far better to work with the expansion and contraction of the circles as the North and South Poles turn parallel to the orbital plane as a function of the orbital motion of the Earth.
