Perhaps people missed my question. Can anyone remember why Garman switched to the type 2 sensors from the more convenient type 1?

I had many of the type 1 sensors and didn't have any trouble with then until the update to the 830's but I can't remember why.

Convenient?

Perhaps you missed my reply. I'll make it easy for you. Just read
this review. Some of the differences are mentioned:
"Garmin Speed & Cadence Sensors V2 with ANT+/Bluetooth Smart"
<https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/04/garmin-speed-cadence-sensors-v2-with-ant-bluetooth-smart-in-depth-review.html>

Also, if you are still having problems with Garmin cycling products,
they do have a web forum where you can ask questions.

But how can you use a Garmin? After all your hero, the yellow chap,
argues that you should Make America Great Again and Garmin is legally
incorporated in Schaffhausen, Switzerland with factories in Taiwan.
