I looked at Steven Hawking's paper, but it's above
my pay grade. The man was burning some serious brain
wattage, I'll grant him that.

The pop science presentations go as follows: outside
the horizon, virtual particle pairs continually pop of of
the vacuum. Occasionally, one escapes, carrying positive
energy away with it. It's negative energy twin falls in,
decreasing the mass of the black hole.

Isn't there an obvious asymmetry here? How about,
the negative energy particle escapes, and positive
energy falls? With 50-50 likelihood, hence no net
energy imbalances.

Then, what about the same process, interior to the
black hole? Virtual pairs appear near the horizon,
then one tunnels out, probabilistically. Again, questions
of energy imbalance arise.

What would give Hawking's radiation an escape velocity
at the event horizon to be able to leave always? Why would only negative fall in?
Why not both being in equilibrium?
What about cosmic rays arriving making the BH heavier?
Would that not counter Hawking Radiation instead?

Cosmic rays are changing evaporation by
their energy making the BH stronger instead...
They arrive from all of space from stars...
