When you pick up the Campy Super Record components you can tell that they are lighter than the others such as Record or Chorus. This is definitely the firzt time that happened to me.

I did weigh a Record 5 arm and a 4 arm crankset against each other and there was only an 8 gram difference in weight. I would guess that is also the variation from crank to crank so that did not strike me as very intelligent since it instantly made everyone's stores of new chain rings obsolete.

Not that I have to worry since both Super Record cranksets I have are 5 arm..

And the weight difference in the rear derailleur will be nullified anyway since I ordered a medium length arm so that I could run a 32 tooth cassette. Dollars to donuts it has aluminum inner and outer cage arms.

I think that it will be interesting to weigh the complete Tomassini. It appears to be TIG welded instead of brazed into lugs. And it also has a carbon fiber fork that looks far more than strong enough to never worry about in my remaining lifetime. But I have contacted Tomassini and they will build me a custom steel fork if I see any problems with the CF one. That is unlikely since 99% of the forces go straight up the fork. Braking forces are tiny compared to the forces from potholes and the like. My Colnago C40 started steering itself not because of the fork but the small diameter tubes flexing. My C50 with larger tubes never even suggested such a thing would happen.

Taking the measurements from the Aliverti and the Basso plus the measurements published in the ad allowed me to order parts like the threadless stem and I already have a 200 gram grooved bar for it. I do NOT like carbon bars unless they are integrated bar/stem type. But the stuff I have and the stuff I orders make aluminum parts that are lighter than the reasonably priced integrated bars. Plus, it I get the feeling that the superlight bar is bending, I have what appears to be a like-new bar which is only 20 grams heavier.

The Tommasini is only 60 cm but so is the Trek Alpha I have up for sale and it appears to be a bit more comfortable than the 62 cm bikes I've been riding most of the time. I did get a carbon fiber seat post to go with the carbon fiber saddle. Seat posts actually feel heavier than the Cannondale aluminum versions. But they also seem to be sturdier.

The frameset is supposed to be here the first week in November. And the rear derailleur should be back from Campagnolo by then. The rear derailleur stop which is broken is different from the Record. Rather than being fixed with a circlip it is a complete washer. How that comes off I don't know but Campy says that their service center can replace it.

Also the medium length arm will be in by then and it will only take 10 minutes to install that. I have a pair of Campy Scirocco wheels that I can use on it but locally there is another pair of Shamal's if he will take less than the gasping amount he is asking for a lightly used but older set. The Sciroccos have a new set of Gatorskins on them which would be nice to ride since it takes a nuclear explosion to give them a flat. But i also have a new set of Michelin Pro4 Endurance tires of I get the Shamals.

The weather here is getting cold and windy but I have thermals for riding in that sort of weather. Despite a reported 30 mph headwind (it didn't feel that bad) I averaged almost 12 mph on the ride today. Hope it is a bit warmer tomorrow and less windy.

The current Super Record 12 rear changer runs a 34t cassette

Well, this is an 11 speed and 12's are entirely different in pull and movement.

I should also add that the reason that I don't change to 12 speed despite it being 2/3rds the cost is that the cassette spacing on Shimano, SRAM and Campy are identical on 11 speeds so all you need is an 11 speed wheel of any sort and the cassette will work. Shimano ultra-light and very cheap cassettes are all over Ebay. A light Campy cassette is $200.

>>> I did weigh a Record 5 arm and a 4 arm crankset against each other and there was only an 8 gram difference in weight. I would guess that is also the variation from crank to crank so that did not strike me as very intelligent since it instantly made everyone's stores of new chain rings obsolete.
>>>
>>> Not that I have to worry since both Super Record cranksets I have are 5 arm.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>

Sorry I missed that point. You're correct.
