how does sound roll out of that?
bolt source is an instant created sound
spread out in order. Sound would all
have the same speed at the
event... there is no reason to wait.

If sound comes from the instant bolt event
why does it roll instead of having that instant itself?
All of the sound would move at the same speed...

A lightning bolt has considerable length, and you're at varying
distances from it over its length. So the sound emitted from it almost
instantaneously arrives at different times.

Sylvia.

If two people fire guns at the same instant, and one is standing next to
you but the other is several kilometres away, then you'll hear the near
one long before you hear the far one.

A bolt of lightning, of course, is not instantaneous, Mitch. It travels from the cloud to the ground, or vice-versa, and this take some small amount of time, and this is easily shown by watching ultra high-speed video of the strikes...

Then how fast is it?
How fast does it complete you moron?
Why is not the sound mapped equal
to its small interval bolt event?

More importantly, and this is what Mitch keeps missing, is that the
sound from the bolt travels at the speed of SOUND (duh!) to the
observer, so the sound from the distant end takes more time to reach the
observer than sound from the closer end, even if the strike was
instantaneous (which it isn't).

If you are very close to the strike, it is a simple BANG as the distant
sound is overwhelmed by the much louder close end.

Adding to that, depending on terrain etc. are echoes of the thunder.

I'm pretty sure that the guy who cannot look stuff for himself is the moron here, Mitch...

How fast is the bolt?
How fast in the sound mapped to that bolt?
They should be equal.
