Although Mercury and Mars will appear to move in the same direction as both planets enter the range of the C3 camera, they are really heading in opposite directions using the stationary/central Sun as a reference.

All planets passing behind the Sun, whether the faster moving Venus and Mercury or the slower moving Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are in direct motion as they move from right to left as Mercury is in that time lapse footage and Mars is currently-

Only Venus and Mercury are in retrograde motion as they pass between the slower moving Earth and the central Sun as also seen in the time lapse above leading to the transit of Venus in 2013.

There is a lot to expand on in putting together this new type of astronomy now and in the years to come. The solar system research community along with observational community is a big Church and we share when wee can our individual pursuits and talents as adults.

Okay, you have had your fun, but then again, it is magnitudes much harder to explain direct/retrograde motions in our era, despite time lapse footage from a satellite tracking with the Earth and minus daily rotational influences than it was in the era of Copernicus to explain direct/retrogrades using a stationary field of stars.

Slightly dismaying.

I think you serve others here well and that is not an intentional slight but just the way things are.

If things were normal, the observations would not be left in isolation to be mocked, but rather seen as a complimentary addition to the direct/retrograde solutions, celebrated by Galileo, Kepler and the first Sun-centred astronomers for the slower moving planets.

In an unmoderated forum and especially one with little traffic these days, anyone can vandalise a thread but this is all there is for transmitting a new astronomy that will eventually make it into mainstream circulation.

There are all sorts of poverty and I don't need to make myself feel better by dwelling on conditions of others who through no fault of their own have found themselves homeless or addicted.

The streets of solar system research and Earth sciences are as desolate as the one you brought up and others are no better or worse than you in that poverty.
