A long time ago I had a DeRosa Road bike. It did not have that flat topped fork crown that is on most of the DeRosa's presently for sale. Finally I wondered what was up and went out onto Ebay and was looking around at DeRosa's and discovered quite a few, I suppose newer models than the '86 catalog, that had the usual tapered fork crown. Perhaps this was an extra cost extra or perhaps they changed with the times and offered a head lug like everyone else (these tapered crown hide behind the brakes on most groups. While I don't believe in "Aero advantage" much beyond deep wheels, pros do ride at speeds where even a slight aero advantage might make a difference in the sprint finish.

Does anyone know about the drop fork crown and when they started using it?

I was think more along the lines of this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/165596766668?hash=item268e5621cc:g:c~YAAOSwoPpi4AvE&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4MkwIl1VWPbVIBusS813Fwsb%2F3z78Vz1MvJsYIor8Hazd9UA2JRLyKDjCRzKMt3CStrkXLrAEDkRsgA84W29OlZ9E%2FOhyXjYGJxCPu3mggSTloCIXO6B7uLXAjg4rOK%2BPJidqGfaZTCktxf8MEVtclONAnEjXG%2FqBHs5PHkHurXeRVShEBMwyuSsHULLd4HkcUolTU%2B0QvpotQcXqAlePZZ4YuAxBbxm5aXDh9h4r1P2Ui1s1FII8N74BkbwrjUZVIBoQ3xfXjWS3H0P1pKsjaNADK2qBdusxD%2Ft4CZRPTgR%7Ctkp%3ABFBMrpr81pRh

vs. this:
