I start this new one, centered on Eddington's actions and 1927 Poor's paper..

As soon as Eddington could, he wrote a book after his 1919 expedition:

where he develop his own formulae for light deflection, based on Einstein's
papers, which he absorbed by 1917 and made him a convert. The reprint
of the book is available at Amazon, but I didn't get it (yet).

But I found the presentation given at the The Physical Society of London,
in 1918 (WWI active, and he breaking the law while WWI was at its heights).
I have to remark that OTHER OBJECTORS OF CONSCIENCE were interned in
camps at England, while this protected fucker was parroting around about GR..
Why was he allowed to do that?

While men talked, the author of the disturb­ance was quietly
preparing a greater. His first effort had left to the materialist
a little comfort and cause for self-conceit in that it had not
suc­ceeded in resolving the old contradiction between
a metaphysical theory of the relativity of space , and time and
the apparent existence of an absolute standard of rotational motion.

The new theory, however, claims, not only that the complete
rela­tivity of space and time is true to the facts, but also that it can
throw light on gravitational phenomena which was not shed by the
more limited principle. To quote the author of this report : "Einstein's
theory has been successful in explaining the celebrated astronomical
discordance of the motion of the perihelion of Mercury with­out
introducing any arbitrary constant; there is no trace of forced
agreement about this predic­tion.

The physical state at any point and instant is summarized in the
values of the coefficients. It is Einstein's achievement to have been able
to apply the work of the pure mathematician to find equations between
these quantities which, while re­ducing to the equations of Newtonian
gravitation for all frames of reference to which the old prin­ciple of
relativity applies, have a completely in­variant form.

While we wonder at the feat, and at the vision of a hitherto uncomprehended unity of thought, there remain some obstinate
questionings. If this dream of complete relativity be true we are
get­ting near the point at which it is so general as to lose touch with
common experience.

We ask why our first naive choice of a system of measurement ready
to hand is such that within it material bodies have a nearly permanent
con­figuration, and light has an approximately con­stant velocity.
Generalisation is the supreme intellectual achievement, but it may leave
us thirsting for the particular and for simplicity. This report on what
may be most remarkable publication during the war leaves us
wondering in which direction the greater satisfaction is given.

And this was the first England converted to relativity: a coward piece of
shit willing to sell his soul for not going to prison or an internment camp..

Meanwhile, other converters in continental Europe were trying to survive
the depredation of WWI: De Sitter, Ehrenfest, Lorentz, Besso, Einstein, Planck, etc. (to get the full list of 1st. rank scientists is not hard).

After the expeditions (there were two, but Eddington rejected the data of
the second), and even when the values had no match with 1.75" value, he
proceeded with the press conference that made Einstein an star.

He wrote a book with about 150 pages immediately, published as a prize
for him, was forgiven, and started a new career based on GR, QM, etc.

Everything that could made him famous as the fucker, but he was not
allowed to achieve that, no matter how many papers he wrote in the next
decades. Only a title of Sir and oblivion, except for a casual mention of
his expeditionS (two, one discarded because of strong disagreements).

Dr. Poor focused on Eddington's book and his calculations, as well as on
Einstein's papers with formulae and the value of 1.75". He objected that
Einstein didn't provided any derivation (just formulae and result), as well
as the way Eddington manipulated the GR theory (which is highly capable
of producing 100's of different solutions) to match the expected value.

It's all like the first, theoretical fudging of GR to provide Gerber's formula
and the value of 43" in Mercury's perihelion shift.

Einstein was a man of words, and his little notes: 0.85", 18", 43" and 1.75"
have the fingerprints of the work of a deceiver and a plagiarist. The master
of mathematical tricks, hypnotic narratives and fudging.

This will continue, but I want to remark the personality of Eddington and
wonder which was its heavy load of dirty laundry.

Another quote:
As Einstein stated in the last paragraph of his paper, ‘scarcely anyone who
has fully understood this theory can escape from its magic’.

Eddington was the ideal expositor of these ideas in English and within 2
years had written his Report on the Relativity Theory of Gravitation for the
Physical Society of London”

MAGIC! It was the correct mechanism to understand GR. Einstein himself
wasn't convinced that he could sell his shit by any other means.

Ha ha ha! What a prick Eddington was!

As Dr. Poor noted in 1927: No space bending, no complex tensorial forms, no high mathematics.
Just applied optics, Huygens and SR to derive a formula with TWICE the 1911 value (page 69).

I now have ZERO DOUBTS about the Einstein-Eddington-Establishment collusion.

My main doubt is WHY? I'll never understand why did this crime of thought happened between 1917 and 1919.

But the damages that those degenerated beings involved caused to science and civilization is non-commensurable.

What caused this movement to slowly die in the next 40 years, to resurface stronger in the '60s?

What are the interests behind all of this?
