Gentlemen,

News came out today that Virginia whats-'er-name has served civil suit
against Andy for allegedly <cough> 'non-consensual romantic
approaches' towards her. What I don't understand is that she was 17 at
the time. Are American girls unable to legally consent at that age?
Seems odd, because most of the rest of the world sets the age at 16 or
even less. Is that the case and is that Federal law or can states set
their own age limits? One other thing- where did the offense take
place? If it occurred in the UK then there's nothing illegal about it
unless she's alleging rape or something of that nature.
Anyone know the answers?

Not if they have been procured and served up to influential friends.

Epstein is dead, and she can't sue him. Ghislane Maxwell doesn't seem to have all that much money so there is not a lot of point in sueing her either.

Grooming young ladies, and shipping them all over the place so that they will be available to gratify your friends is the famous "white slavery" that the British tabliods that you favour used to get very excited about.

Can't say that I do, but I doubt that the young lady involved being old enough to consent would get Prince Andrew off the hook. If she had been manipulated into a situation where it would be awkward for her to reject his advances, his legal situation is going to be dire.

In a few states it's 18. Most states are split evenly between 16 and 17.

But transporting anyone under 18 from state to state for sex is always
illegal.

I for one won't be holding my breath. One law for the elites of this
world and another for the rest of us.

Always thought that Andrew was a bit dodgy but having said that, don't
subscribe to the "girls are fragile blooms that need protection" trope,
preferring to assume they are intelligent enough to make up their own
minds, especially by mid teens. Most have enough inbuilt protection
instinct to recognise a bad situation and how to avoid it. Having worked
in music for nearly ten years in a previous life and the photos of the
two together, I would say she knew exactly what she was doing and not
under any pressure, even if a bit overawed by the royalty aspect of
Andrew.

There are groupies everywhere, in all walks of life, both sexes and the
fact that this has been so long in the making suggest this is all about
the money, not any real injustice. Poor judgement on Andrew's part at
the time, but he is not exactly known for having a first class
mind etc. Dodgy guy, but mix in that sort of company at your own risk.
Not a judgement at all, just an observation...
