and many unmutated, and NO negatives to produce the next generation.

There is DNA which doesn't do anything. Mutations there also don't do
anything. There is DNA for things which don't do anything important.
There are "silent mutations" where DNA changes but the translation
doesn't change. Etc.

Covid isn't real? Studying Covid isn't science? Noting how a rare few
mutations such as the Delta variant are positive (for the virus, bad for
us) isn't science? Noting how other variants earlier were positive
(again, for the virus) isn't science? Noting that Covid is actually
getting worse now isn't science? Burying our heads and saying "it will
get better and end by mutation" is science? Should we sing "Kumbayah" as

Actually, we have never observed a virus end due to mutations. What we however observe is that viruses mutate to be more infectious and generally less harmful cause not killing your host helps spreading the virus.

We do not know the exact pressure to it but two ideas are the need for increased social behavior to survive along with sexual selection.

Covid is a natural virus and it has already mutated to be better, Delta variant is an example.
