I did spend ten years at Melbourne University. The last two years of my University time were as a postdoc at the University of Southampton in the UK.

Come to think of it, I spent six more years at Nijmegen University in the Netherlands, working - nominally part time - as an electronic engineer in the science faculty workshop. I persuaded them to start using surface mount components, and seemed to have introduced them to ECLinPS logic. It wasn't a centre of innovation.

In some US states legislation forces sporting bodies to allow trans women or lose all govt funding.

It would take a major spectator boycott to get anywhere and then ONLY with events that have large paying audiences.

Sport is essentially a device to get people to exercise. Creeps who think that winning is a whole more important than taking part, and want to freeze out the occasional transexual athlete, have a really perverse view of what's going on.

There are branches of competitive sport which are effectively part of the entertainment industry - the various football codes come close - but you wouldn't get all that excited if transexuals took part in that.

There's nothing threatening there. It's just an observation. Flyguy is stupid, so he might well have felt threatened by such an observation. If Phil had suggested that Flyguy should die a violent death, Flyguy might be silly enough to think that Phil was threatening him, rather than indulging in wishful thinking.
