How can rain be a round arc?
Rain is not falling in a round way.
The rainbow is light science.

If you're interested in the story of mathematics of rainbows
and about Airy mostly and Fresnel of course and from the
history of light particularly the computation of the angles
of the bow, Carl Boyer's "The Rainbow ..." is the
best source I found.

Rene Descartes was the first who realized in 1637 that Rainbows were caused when light from the Sun gets split into different colors by raindrops.

there are also Halos, Sundogs, Coronas around moon or sun, sun spokes, moon dogs, and Sun Pillars

depends upon the shape of the reflecting water ice crystals, or water droplet

Just as God creates gravity
He creates a rainbow and an observer
position does not change it.
Look at photographs and they
are always without angle.

Mitch:

I would bet that you did not know that rainbows are polarized light.

Did you know that?

Why do you think that is true?
