Sometimes older is better. Newsgroups are (were) great as each could be on a very specific topic. As far as I can tell Facebook is the only game in town. Am I missing anything?

They have lots of e-bike related topics, or you can start your own. I found them useful on tools required by the Bafang BB bottom bracket shell mount motors and lightweight battery ideas by using Bosch power-tool batteries for sprints where weight matters.

I know. Or, more precisely, I used to know about binary images in the long ago and far away, when the net was in its infancy. But it's awkward and time-consuming translating the images, and nobody will spend the time at the viewer end finding the "begin 644" or whatever the code for the start of the image is, the end code, and then translating the text back to a crude image. And the available image quality is in any event appalling. -- AJ

I operate a big group for writers on Facebook, but the problem with Facebook for an artists' forum is that you can't have subject threads unless you go through contortions, and once the message has scrolled off the bottom of the screen, it's hard to search for it in any meaningful way. Writers don't mind this but artists definitely would.

Never had any loading or resolution or display issues. The

I don't know about "reader's groups" but as for success as an author
one might look at Bernard Cornwell OBE, who has sold some 30 million
of his books (as of 2015) and was appointed an Officer of the Order of
the British Empire (OBE) in the 2006 Birthday Honours.

As opposed to a wannabe, self published, author living in a Bothie on
a mountain top in a low rent region of Ireland.
