There is a fairly common syndrome, an electronics tech who can't
design and who thinks electronic design is magic, and hates the
magicians.

Your enthusiasm for finding design defects fits right in. It shows, to
you, that EEs are impractical equation-slinging airheads. When I
worked in Silicon Valley, the cultural differences were stark and
often funny. Engineers drove sports cars; techs drove pickups.
Engineers ate at restaurants, techs at strip clubs. Tribes.

I don't think that a good tech is dumb or anything; I respect her
skills. We can work together and create products. I want my techs to
consider that a problem could be a design defect, and come talk to us
about it. We *don't* want a test tech to, for example, replace an
opamp four times until the thing works. Finding bugs can be a friendly
rivalry, a sport.

We have a folder on a server, J:\NEXT. Every product has a folder and
a file like PxxxAtoB.txt with other docs as needed. Anyone in the
company can add notes and suggestions for the next rev, and the test
people do roughly half.

The test people participate in new product design reviews too. They
always want more test points.

Lol, we all know the real sport game is a blood lust game as invoked below.

Let the s.e.d games begin!

Nice double move, insulting the opponent and giving himself a boost by referring to himself as a "magician". A solid opening move. +2 Larkin

The follow up move is weak at best and opens himself to attacks of elitism. +3 Larkin

Now he is heading into the territory of "my way is best". There's no shortage of Larkin's moves in this area, so he needs to watch out for the obvious countermoves. Still +3 Larkin

Continuing in the same vein is asking for counter attacks. Still +3 Larkin

> The test people participate in new product design reviews too. They

Here he continues with the same tired "what I do is best" pronouncement, but he adds a slight for a bit of variety. +4 Larkin

Will Phil be able to defend against these attacks or will he cower under his bench hurling profanities?

It's a pity that John Larkin doesn't know how to play this particular game.

Not a claim for which I've seen an evidence here.

<snip>

True, but irrelevant. John Larkin is just being rude again.
