This is a crazy post. I managed to damage the oil bladder diaphragm in my 7020 left brifter. So I called Shimano and they said yes they can get the part but not to individuals only dealers.

I called LBS and gave them the part number they could not find it. So, I called our resident expert Andrew. He could not find it either but then checking with Shimano it is not a part that normally is available, and you have to go through some warranty department parts. Sure enough Andrew found me the part and order it.

So I am grateful for this crazy ass group of weirdo cycle junkies. I don't have to get another whole shifter. Also remember that when you go to the local bike shop sometimes, they know and sometimes they don't. However, when you go to the Yellow Jersey they will know, or nobody else will at all.

The buck stops there and the head dud answers the phone. This is clearly remarkable and almost nonexistent in the business today of any kind.

Andrew Muzi this deacon owes you a beer. Wisconsin special. Get some Spotted Cow up the road. My hats off to you. An always read the manual before you do things it helps.

Thank you, you're gracious.

Not the hardest or weirdest mission I completed today!

It would be very nice if you could get me a Record 12 speed right lever cable reel. Apparently the man at Campy who said that he was going to send me one changed his mind or something. After 3 weeks nothing.

Very cool.

I have a similar recent story that also illustrates the value of
long time practitioners and their knowledge and expertise.

My LBS confirmed the play in my tandem bottom brackets indicated
the need for replacement. Though the tandem is just over 10 years
old, they could find no trace of the Shimano Octalink parts. The
fellow I bought the bike from has been handling these things for
decades and was able to source two pair: one new and one nearly
so. He felt pretty strongly these were the last to be had
anywhere, and is keeping one pair for himself.
