I hadn't realized that "threads" here were "owned" by an individual

So, one posts a message and because one originated said message all
responses are to be made solely by the originator. It sounds like a
very personal and private act.
Self gratification one might say....
I looked that term up in the dictionary and I find:

It sounds very much like demanding others stay out of "your" thread is
much like "masturbation", the satisfying of one's own sexual urges".

I sort of like his screaming and frothing at the mouth, given that
growing up in a small New England town I heard innumerable persons
identify themselves as French- Americans, Irish-Americans,
Italian-Americans. In fact people running for election to public
office frequently identified themselves in that manor. Think Fiorello
La Guardia who was Mayor of New York City from 1934 to 1946 who made
political "hay" from his Italian heritage, defeating politicians from
the Irish dominated Tammany Hall group.

Not to mention that "heritage" seems to be a major factor in current
S. African politics :-)
