If the Chinese telescope costs half as much, but does even 90% of the same thing, then re-sale value doesn't really matter very much.

Back in the '80s several "high-end" car makers bragged about "resale value" but glossed over the fact that the vehicles cost three times as much with only marginal improvements as *practical* transportation. Repair, maintenance and insurance costs were not mentioned.

Old programmers never die, they just hit account block limit.
