Jan, I agree that oligarchy is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as there are mechanisms in place to peacefully change out one oligarchy for another, as we are about to do in the United States.

China is an example of a modern industrialized oligarchy of at least tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands or millions. I contend that China is not working well for its prolets (ask any Uyghur) because it does not has such a mechanism. Russia is another. Wikipedia is yet another. D^3! (Down with Dirty Dirk!)

Prokary hasn't published in a peer reviewed journal like Physical Review. I'm sure he has an appropriate conspiracy theory for why physicists don't appreciate his mighty work. But anyway, publication is the way to get work into Wikipedia, which is a tertiary source (it prefers not primary publications, but reviews of THEM).

I use Wikipedia almost exclusively for science content but I wouldn't be surprised
if this was true. Both the traditional news media and many Internet platforms
(Twitter and Facebook most obviously) have become activists, not platforms.

It will be interesting to see if Elon Musk does something with Twitter (he has just
become the majority stock owner). Also interesting to see (if they open their
internal archives) whose decision it was to suppress in 2020 all the reporting on
Hunter Biden's laptop. My guess is it must have been Jack Dorsey himself, under
a VERY strong political pressure from the DNC, along the Godfather lines. That's
probably why Jack twitted a mea-culpa yesterday, he (or his lawyer rather) is
likely preparing for a bit of stormy weather ahead.

Russia is a dictatorship, not oligarchy though (oligarchs who disagree with Putin end up

Back when I was in science, I published in peer reviewed journals,
but not in physics. The journals included Proceedings of the National
Academy of Sciences with a current impact factor of 11.2 versus 9.16
for Physical Review Letters. A 1984 paper of mine was published in
a journal with a current impact factor in the 40's range. And yes,
references to some of my work shows up in Wikipedia.

No conspiracy, but physicists couldn't care less about my work. :-)
