I posted links to two New Yorker articles. One has to wonder where John Doe thinks he can find a lie in that. There wouldn't be a lot of point in reasoning with me about what the New Yorker writers had to say, not that John Doe seems to have any idea of what "reasoning" might consist of - his posting style is fatuous assertion, and his idea of "discussion" involves reasserting exactly the same nonsense. It's all a total waste of bandwidth, and remarking on this fact isn't all that useful either.

It was more of an attempted coup d'etat. Trump wanted Congress intimidated out of ratifying the election that he'd lost.

What they might have told one another doesn't really matter. They used violence - not enough of it to create the effect they wanted, which is what you'd expect from something that Trump had organised - but enough that five people ended up dead.

It was an ineffective attempt at creating anarchy, but that doesn't mean that the perpetrators should be let off with a slap on the wrist.
