I don't know why they didn't include the oscilloscope function. Certainly they feel the screen is large enough! There's no way I could use that for anything as I could not read it without bringing it up to my eyes and wearing binocular magnifiers. They could easily make the screen twice as large without any impact on the device functionality. These sorts of gadgets are targeted to teenagers, like the 2.3 inch oscilloscopes.

You must be close to blind then?

Even in the video it is clear...

Of course it is clear in the video. That's like having a 3x magnifier. Maybe they need to combine it with a big lens like the CRTs in Brazil?

** The *back lit* blue display looks OK to me.
Anyone working with SMD (and over 40) is likely wearing reading glasses anyhow.

FYI:
My current technology is a pair of DMM probes with small sewing needles soldered to the tips.
Yes, needles are nickel plated steel and easy to solder.

One comfort is that most anyone needs optical assistance for 0603 and
smaller.

I have one of my eyes focussed at 8" and one at 20". That works for
computing and reading and most bench work. I can wear glasses
outdoors.

I have a 10x stereo scope for the SMD. I did get bifocal glasses set
for normal reading and the computer screen about 2 feet away. Another
set for close in and far away for driving.

Got some DMM probes that were very pointy but the metal is soft &,
easily damaged. A sewing needle would solve that.

I've also got those DMM probes with replacable pogo pins in the tips.
Also some inexpensive Kelvin tweezer probes.

I stuck force-fit replaceable pogo pins in this monstrosity.

In the film 'Brazil', homologation wasn't a priority, in society.

The clerk is using a miniscule crt display, located behind a large
magnifying glass, not a projector screen. A gigantic technological

Nice AI reply. It's still called a beamscope and that's how they were
used. It's a dated product, but no more obscure than a paper welder for
