The new headset hasn't got here yet, but I needed the ride.

It was mid nineties and I pushed the envelope a llttle too much,
riding 48 miles with the temperature well up in the 90s. I'd taken six
24 oz bottles of water, and I'd drunk them all. Next ride in this
kind of weather and I'll take seven. I felt fine right to the end, and
then I nearly passed out when I first got up off the bike, and that
was after sitting on the bike waiting for my heart rate to get back
down to 90. My heart rate jumped back up to 110 when I stood up, so I
sat back down on the bike, probably for another ten minutes.

I noticed that my new Shimano pedals, along with the cleats that came
with them are different and are easier to uncleat. They're supposed to
sty clipped better.

It's not necessarily an 'improved' model.

SPD cleats and pedals wear, albeit slowly, and the rider
hardly notices until it's a problem. After a few sets of
cleats, the pedals will be worn such that a new set feels
just spectacular - as they were when you first bought them.

The old pedals had 18400 miles on them. I have no idea how old the
cleats were. They might have been that old, too.. Remember that I
don't clip/unclip as often as you two-wheelers.

At any rate, the new pedals look nicer. I'm making a fashion
statement.

My old SPD pedals still worked fine. I never had any problem with
them. They were shabby looking, and I've been on a rebuild kick.
