I suppose you're correct. Slocomb's life, believe me, gave him good reason to brag about rising as high as a Crew Chief of an obsolete bomber that was never in service.

You know what your admission above sounds like, Slow Johnny? It sounds like Tom learned better from the experience the Air Force offered him than you did, and that Tom used the experience better to lever himself into a series of well-paying but above all interesting, useful jobs in civilisation, while you spent the rest of your life in sweaty climes doing the same dangerous job because you're not smart enough to say "enough, I'm moving on." And that sounds like just another flunking shortass, short brain, cocky little man who doesn't learn from experience. Face it, shortass, you're dull, while Tom is interesting.

I particularly like his "helper to a qualified technicians" in a career field that simply didn't have any promotions. That does completely describe what HIS career was. He was a tool carrier his entire life knowing nothing and not caring. In the meantime, B52's could not fly without us poor little tool carriers. There were 5 or 6 of us in the shop in which they put ALL of the sergeants working together and only 1 A1C. 95% of the work was done by A2C's. But I suppose when you're a failure like he was you have no alternative but to expect everyone to be a failure and a purely defense mechanism.
