I have had problems with this before. Campagnolo chains are not connected with a fast link. But rather a new pin that you push in with your chain tool.. The chain tool is an 11 speed and that allows enough play so that the newly waxed chain can tip a bit off center.

The link tipped over and broke off so I ordered some SRAM quick links since Connex doesn't make 12 speed (yet). So I have yet another week of waiting to finish my BMC SLC-01. On the other hand, this will allow time for my new 50-34 rings to come in so that I don't have to possibly shorten the chain because the present FSA is a mid-compact.

I contacted Campagnolo about my receiving a pair of 12 speed levers in a sealed container that had not been pre-threaded with Campy shift cables. I got a return email from a customer service guy who was concerned so I gave him the supplier and the ad.

Now I can't find where I "saved" the previous reel but I tripped across it the other day and then again misplaced it so I imagine that it will turn up sooner of later. But Campagnolo SHOULD have important spares like this on hand. My local Campy dealer says that they probably won't make any spares until this winter and that he usually orders several of them to put in stock..

The customer service rep never got back to me. I think that is almost as concerning as Campy not having replacement spares.

I would change to some other manufacturer if Campy were not so ergonomically perfect. SRAM does not shift multiple gears properly and Shimano's ergonomics suck bit time. I suppose that one of the Chinese manufacturers may have copied Campy and they make dirt seem expensive. But I don't feel like experimenting.

After I get the bike completed and thoroughly tested I will replace the EC90 fork (stock fork) with the latest BMC fork. But I attempted to pull the stock fork out and it was pretty tightly sealed in and I assume that it will be a lot of soaking in WD-40 to get it out of the top cap on the headset. I may simply take the new fork and the bike up to Robinson's. The entire headset may need to be replaced. I'm getting tired of buying special tools and this is a 1 1/8th to 1 1/4th tapered steering tube.
