I have had some fun building bikes and redoing them. I found this Lemond Buenos Ares on facebook. Thinking about getting it and see how it rides with he componets as they are but would also consider building it up as upgrade with Shimano R7000 or maybe Tiagra 10 speed. Not sure if the wheels would take an 11 spd cassette thinking it will not.

I would like to know what any here think of Lemond 853 steel. To me that are a pretty good riding steel bike. Here it what do you think can I get it cheap.

Facebook won't let me onto that page to look at it. But I had a couple of Lemond's of the type that used carbon fork and 853 frame. They worked well with the 10 speed Campy I used but that limited the climbing gear to a 28.

Shimano allows you to use a 32 tooth large cog which at my age is almost a necessity. My Di2 has a 34 tooth. That allows me to go slow enough up pretty steep hills that the energy output is what I can handle. I have been discovering that I ride a 50-13 down most hills so an 11-12 is a waste of space.. My experience with 105 showed me that it is more than good enough. I do buy a lot of Dura Ace but it doesn't work any better, it's just lighter. My SLC01 only needs a 12 speed quick link, trimming the wires and handlebar tape and it's done.

By the way, MOST Bontrager wheels that say "10 speed" CANNOT be updated to more speeds. If it does specify 11 speeds it is and will remain 9 or 10 speeds.

But https://www.ebay.com/itm/386104527180?epid=1000556962&hash=item59e59f894c:g:UOwAAOSwS8FjRywa&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0KnMhXg8ivyZXLV0hMtVcdTPzcpD1u5BW4I82rgoh1onMKf0yoqyrYYmB5dTa6UuJrr88LS4jyIWFdifFmvqvfpY0PNPu%2F2RGDj9CVC5KyJ6Rchfg6Ut%2FYGmkzX7souG2V0pDky4dl9882MLe9Q9%2FzZoveKT%2BMmPmC2L7p%2BGl7dY1IVG63SR%2Bi8OUKtabicvSL9CT2HmRwKjz5WHH1F9nTbnN61sZvh9EXZhR4cjKtTnna5yBJlbTQru5QUJK4mAtFeL2CT5X4h606OqiGzxQMk%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR56ki-_yYg

If really all you need with 105 10 speed shifters. (12-30). Don't buy used cassettes or chain rings or chains.

Try this URL instead.

The URL is fine, but the added tracking information after the "/?ref="
is broken somehow.

By the way - This was set up as a Di2 bike with external wiring and a heavy saddle on it and it weighed 19.5 lbs.
