Bridge on Mars? Come on, it should be a bridge on
Jupiter.(Blish--"They Shall Have Stars")

Well, we have a rather large bay with a substantial river pouring
into it from the northeast. But it's already got (counts on fingers)
at least five, and I'm not sure there aren't a couple more that I
don't know about because I don't drive.

Have you considered the cost of transporting it from Mars?
>Quadi may have set a low bar but he didn't ask for next week's pocket money.

No, I was just curious as to what kind of bridge you'd build on
Mars. Lower gravity, you could get some interesting shapes, but
you'd want to build it out of something tough, to withstand those
ferocious sandstorms.

Even without him providing any images, it is easy for me to determine
what that bridge probably looks like:

The sandstorms aren't all that ferocious. No air density. They can
carry dust but that's about it.

Absolutely, that's the major blooper in "The Martian" - the most
you can get as dynamic pressure on Mars is a gentle breeze.

The author acknowledged it, though, he needed a plot device to
keep the hero on the planet.

The air is so thin that those 'ferocious sandstorms' actually carry dust,
and don't have enough oomph to do much of anything.

The author of 'the Martian' admitted that having wind blow over an
antenna was one of the ways he cheated.
