The folks in NYC haven't gotten the memo.

I listened to the beginning of the new season of NYC's
Metropolitan Opera last night, and the commentators
mentioned that the audience there is STILL required
to "mask up" to keep anyone from getting sick.

So maybe all of those masking folks in CA need to move
to NYC where they'll be able to screech their little
hearts out at the people who have wised up and have
ditched the useless face diapers.

Nyssa, who thinks the Party of Science needs to actually
READ some science for a change to find out the studies
show that the masks were statistically useless

Yes, the entertainment industry is one of the last vestiges, desperately
clinging on to the mask hysteria. You can also see this when they pan the
audiences of shows like THE TONIGHT SHOW and THE VIEW. (Not only do they still
require everyone in the audience to wear a mask, they can't even wear their
own mask. They have to wear one with the show's logo on it. So not only are
you forced to breathe through a damp piece of cloth for two or more hours,
you're required to serve as an advertising vehicle for the cameras.)

One of things I thought about doing to keep busy during my retirement was sign
up with one of the companies that casts extras in TV, movie, and commercial
shoots. You just fill out the forms, go in to their offices and have them take
a few pics for the file, and they text you with job opportunities that you fit
the profile for. You either accept or decline based on your schedule, the
commute, etc. Seemed like a great way to earn some extra money, enjoy some
awesome free food, and maybe end up in a movie or something.

Well, it turns out that the entire film industry is stuck in April 2020. Time
has not moved on for them. For anyone who's anywhere near a production,
they're still doing all the mandatory masking on set, they have all sorts of
'zones' in place and people are not allowed to cross zones and if you do,
you're fired and blacklisted. Everyone not only has to be vaccinated, they
make you take a booster every few months. Also being within six feet of a
principal actor, regardless of whether it's brief (as in walked past them) or
accidental, gets you fired and blacklisted.

All of that sounded so ridiculous and/or dangerous (I got the two shots but
I'm not going to continue to flood my body with that stuff every few months,
especially with more and more studies coming out showing that it's not nearly
as universally safe as the government claimed it was) that I decided to pass
on being an extra.

It hasn't happened in my earshot either. It was never really about
individual freedom. It was about conformity to their standard of
behavior.

I used to see a few people wearing masks in airports and on airplanes
over the last few decades. I assumed that they were either health
compromised or else had to hit the ground running for business or family
get-togethers when they arrived and couldn't afford to take time out to
shake off a bug they had caught on the plane. I expect to see more of
that going forward, but not as a majority behavior. Most people seem to
be happy to pretend that the clouds have parted and COVID is behind us.

The numbers do look better these days, but viruses love to mutate, and
the effects of catching COVID multiple times appear to be cumulative.
Applications for disability income and reliance on assisted living are
going to start trending up, and average life expectancy is going to
trend down.

Oh, look at Micky acting all immature and all, pretending to have kill
filed BRT1701 but still reading absolutely everything he writes.

She is pathetic.

There can be mask wearing that substantially cuts down on on the risk
of transmission, but the vast majority of people have no idea how to
properly mask up. Use of a surgical mask is a joke. One needs to wear
a tight-fitting N95 with liner or second mask.

It's a lie of omission to fail to state that critical bit, Micky.

You also need to replace that frequently.

I've been saying this for years!
