After an arduous workout, I watched:

Nothing.

What did you watch?

Just soaps:

soaps: DOOL - Alex manages to get the file from Sloane, and get out of
her place; later, he's maybe going to take the file to NuStephanie.
Susan Banks warns EJ that he's in "great danger", and then uses her
voodoo-mumbo-jumbo to eliminate(?) Johnny as the potential source of
that danger. Ava Vitali is vistied by (or hallucinates!) the "spirit"
of her dead EVOL!!1! son, Charlie Dale! who encourages her to pursue
revenge against EJ!! Ava texts Tripp that she's not going to Seattle
afterall, and stays intending to pursue Revenge! REVENGE!!
GH - Wow! Not only did they get William R. Moses to play Lizzie's
dad, Jeff Webber, they got Denise Crosby to play Lizzie's mom,
Carolyn!! Anyway, while I think Lizzie is right on the merits about her
parents' treatment of her, she's just so damn *whiny* about it!!...
Finn is forced to treat the insane Heather Webber (now played by Alley
Mills, best known from the B&B). Anna is denied bail at the hearing.
Valentin tries to slug Victor's "guard" so that he and Charlotte can
escape, but he only succeeds with a little help from someone we haven't
seen in a while... (It's Laura!)

I then tried to watch the 2013 (Canadian!) version of "Embrace of the
Vampire". LMN was running it, but they would cut out all the naked
nudity, so I looked for a streaming alternative - I found that it was
on just Vuvu. Tried to sign into Vudu, but they've eliminated their
Walmart login option after Fandango bought them, so I had to spend time
"transferring" my account to Vudu proper.
Then I tried to run the movie - but I hit the first ad-break (note:
it was awkwardly inserted): it would play the first ad, try to play the
second ad, fail, and produce an error message. And that was that -
nothing would allow me to get around or move past the broken ad-break
at the 8-min mark, so I could not continue the movie. IOW, Vudu is
majorly f**ked up, and appears to be unusable if they can't get basic
things like ad-breaks right.

Of the ad-supported streamers, Tubi looks better and better every day... :/

A responsible opposing viewpoint

I didn’t even realize or remember I had VUDU. But there was an account in
my password list. I didn’t really want to watch it on the iPhone and it
wasn’t on the Cox box so I checked the PS3 which has been losing apps (I
lost crackle and Hulu within the last month). But there was VUDU at the
bottom of the list and it apparently signed me in automatically without
even asking who the hell I was.

Almost everything is pay-per-view. Out of the 300 TV series offerings they
offer they offer one for free (with ads), highlander. And that’s it.

But they did offer both versions of embrace of the vampire with ads and all
the naked nudity intact. The ads are just inserted at random but they do
back it up about 10 seconds when they start over after the ad break.

For 2013 version has lots of attractive women many of whom do very brief
nudity but eventually we get around to the star doing extensive nudity.

The college location is fabulous and the girls all have funky metric names
and the look that would make you think this was shot in Romania or
something but it’s Canadian.

Starring Victor Webster and Keegan Connor Tracy and that girl Ian likes
from the 100. And the surprise ending… Well I have to go back and watch the
original with Alyssa Milano to see if that’s the way it ended. VUDU has
that as well.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it is still on my list.

Hey, thanks for asking!

Halloweenie stuff, mostly background noise, all day. I let the 1951 THE
THING run overnight to get the day started. TCM was showing good stuff all
day. I watched a Dracula movie with Lee and Cushing and a Frankenstein
movie with Lee and Cushing and a mummy movie with Lee and Cushing. Also
some kind of Satanic cult movie with Lee but no Cushing.

I snacked on pizza and Kentucky fried chicken and Halloween candy as I
cleaned and decorated all day and actually ended up having a low sugar
attack. I am mystified.

Halloween was a moderate success. I probably had between 30 and 40 kids in
a dozen Doorbell rings. Last year I got three times that.

While I was handing out candy I let that classic THE GREEN SLIME run, and
finished it off with HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS.

Of the dozen or so CASH CABS the DVR threatens to record each week, it
actually recorded one so I snuck that in.

The eve of the 30th I watched one of my favorite movies that I haven’t seen
in years MATINEE. Just a fine film. The laser disk of it includes MANT
separately.

Somewhere in there I watched the most recent episode of SURVIVOR which is
just getting boring.

And also on TCM Connie Stevens and Dean Jones are TWO ON A GUILLOTINE.
Connie inherits a haunted house from her father Cesar Romero and must spend
a certain number of nights there to keep the inheritance. Dean Jones plays
a crooked reporter pretending not to be a reporter to get the story and
both wackiness and smoochies ensue.

It's interesting you say the Apple TV Vudu app didn't work for you
either (or do you not have a Vuvu app on your Apple TV box?).

Bottom line: The Vudu app for Apple TV is f**ked. >:/
I won't be trying it again any time soon...

The universe is out to get you but it is obviously incompetent since it
keeps failing. :P

You didn't ask but I watched the pilot of 'China Beach' on DVD with the
commentary by John Sacret Young (Exec Producer/co-creator) and Rod
Holcomb (producer/episode director) that was recorded in November 2003.

I threw the box away because it never worked. They said it wouldn’t work
unless I bought the brand new one and I wasn’t about to drop a couple
hundred dollars to replace something that never worked. Also my years of
free service were up and they had it automatically switched me over to
paying for a service that never worked and I wanted to get rid of that as
fast as possible.

As I said, I used the PlayStation VUDU app and it worked fine.

I'm a kind of a Scrooge when it comes to trick-or-treaters. I've never
been a big candy eater, so it had limited appeal even when I was a kid,
and having hordes of small people ring my bell asking for treats is more
of a pain than anything else, especially the ones who are teenagers and
don't even put any effort into it, just so they can walk around and get
free stuff from people.

My solution to avoid next year's trick-or-treaters: blackout curtains
and sign on door that says PLAGUE HOUSE.

This year's door sign calling trick-or-treaters "looters" and telling
them to go read ATLAS SHRUGGED worked pretty good, too.

Our city shuts down a 3-block strip where there are restaurants and a
lot of boutique businesses. The police block it off to traffic and turn
it into a pedestrian stroll. People bring their kids in their costumes
and the businesses all hand out candy to them. Consequently, we never
have had much in the way of traditional trick-or-treaters. It went on
hiatus during the Wuhan Flu, but it's back now and there were thousands
of people out there last night.

I usually go out and make a lap around the stroll because I enjoy
checking out all the girls who use Halloween as an excuse to dress as
slutty as possible.

The 501st Legion (Vader's Fist) showed up again this year, too. It
really is amazing the lengths some fans go to. Their costumes were
easily screen-worthy for a STAR WARS film. Vader himself was fantastic.
His suit was not only completely accurate, it even had all the blinking
belt and chest-panel lights and a device in his mask that not only did
the breathing, but modulated the guy's voice into a passable version of
James Earl Jones. And whoever was wearing the suit had a physique that
was worthy of it. Nothing worse than seeing a fan-Vader that's too short
or chubby or skinny. This guy was about 6'5" and bulked out. Really sold
the look.

Last night was also supposed to be the big West Hollywood Halloween
Carnaval. The city usually closes off all the streets for about five
blocks centered on Robertson, where Pump is (from Ubi's VANDERPUMP
RULES) and a hundred thousand people have a massive bacchanal. It was
nixed for the last two years because of Wuhan Flu, but this year
everyone was expecting it to be back. However, the city officials refuse
to let go of their Wuhan Flu hysteria and now they have monkeypox to
freak out over too, so they canceled it for the third year in a row.
Except people are having none of the government nannying this year. They
all showed up anyway last night and flooded out onto Santa Monica
Boulevard by the thousands, snarling traffic (which wouldn't have been
there if the streets had been closed off like normal). Once again the
government suffers a massive L and makes the problem worse rather than
better.

This seems to be the new way of doing ads and it's maddening. YouTube
does this and now a podcast I listen to has started doing it too. The ad
just suddenly comes blaring in mid-sentence at twice the volume of
whatever you're watching/listening to. It's especially bad when you're
watching a video of a performance of something like a Beethoven symphony
and right in the middle of the first movement, an ad for a Toyota Denali
comes screaming onto the screen.

It literally makes me furious. I have no idea why the advertiser thinks
I'd be in any way disposed toward buying their product when they totally
pissing off the viewer like that.

Waitaminit... This area suffers from promiscuous homosexual sex in
public in the middle of the carnival? It's not like it's a respiratory
illness.

I noticed all the Universal classics were playing on TMC last night but had
zero interest in watching.

No kids to be seen or ehard all night, which reminds me. I was watching the
original Halloween and noticed children were trick-or-treating in the middle
of the afternoon and realized I hadn't seen that for awhile.

>While I was handing out candy I let that classic THE GREEN SLIME run

I watched a little bit of that but quickly lost interest when they stupidly
brought it aboard. Hmm, I wonder if Gary Gygax was inspired by this movie?

Travel Channel was playing GHOST ADVENTURES (yawn), followed by a movie
instead of the normal two-hour long investigation.

Kids actually showed up this year, but not enough to put a dent in the
candy bowl. I will be eating left over Halloween candy for the
foreseeable future.

> While I was handing out candy I let that classic THE GREEN SLIME run, and

I've had Green Slime sitting on the DVR for a while. I have no idea
when I'm actually going to watch it.

I watched:

You're So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night (blu-ray) This is a
2 1/2 hour long documentary about the making of the movie, "Fright
Night." It was included with the movie as a bonus. This documentary is
longer than the movie itself and is ridiculously comprehensive! It
covers every aspect of the making of the movie, from preproduction, to
hiring the effects people, to the music, to marketing. No stone is left
unturned. It's full of lots of anecdotes and behind the scenes footage.
And it finally answers the question of what is Billy Cole, straight
from the actor who played him and the writer director themselves. The
answer is, they have no idea what he is! Apparently, there is an even
longer version of this documentary that also covers Fright Night 2, but
they edited most of the Fright Night 2 stuff out for this version

Batman: The Long Halloween (4K disc) 2021 Direct to video animated
movie. This was previously released on blu-ray as two parts, but this
new 4K disc combines both parts into one movie, just under 3 hours long.
The plot involves Batman (Jensen Ackles) investigating a series of
murders that take place on holidays. It's a pretty good movie. And
solidly "R" rated, which is one of the things I like about the Warner DC
animated movies. Even though they are animated, they are aimed squarely
at the adult audience.

Quantum Leap - "O Ye of Little Faith" - Ben leaps into a priest who has
to conduct an exorcism. This episode touched on some of the questions
about the show that came up recently. One explanation that seemed
particularly ridiculous was the people in the present reading news
articles online to check for changes in the timeline. How exactly are
they able to perceive changes to history?!? Not that the original show
didn't do the exact same thing. Still, no excuse for sloppy writing now.

Yeah, I thought about that but was looking for something more engaging.

I’ve never seen that. We used to wait anxiously at the window for the sun
to go down. This year my first trick-or-treaters showed up (their mom was
driving them around looking for Likely houses) Right as my weather app said
it was sunset.

Not on purpose! The doctor wants to bring it aboard and the hero takes the
sample and smashes it and some of it splashes unnoticed on a grunts
spacesuit. So it’s all Robert Horton’s fault.

Hmm, I wonder if Gary Gygax was inspired by this movie?

I’ve been eating Halloween candy all morning and not taking any insulin and
my numbers are the same as if I hadn’t eaten anything and hadn’t taken any
insulin. It’s like chocolate has healed my pancreas.

Green slime has a long and Interesting history with fans. There was a
crappy looking pan & scan VHS in English (which is the language it was shot
in) and there was a good looking widescreen laser disk of the Japanese
release in Japanese language and with some missing scenes. We kept trying
to collect better and better copies. Finally some mad genius in what may
have been the first fan edit made his own version using the video from the
laser and the audio from the VHS and included the missing scenes from the
VHS but they were full screen and the laser disk was Letterboxd so they had
the sides missing when he cut them in. IMHO the only thing he did wrong
was he dropped all the pillar boxed scenes in dead center. I would have
slid them left or right so they matched the framing of the original they
were pulled from. But still it was damn cool!

After years of us messing around with it suddenly one day there was a
beautiful DVD.

They have the standard excuse. They’re Canadian. Remember the Supergirl
Canadian writers giving interviews saying that it wasn’t as important to
write a good script as to stick in Wolka messages?

On the original show Ziggy could somehow tell the difference between the
timelines but on the original show Ziggy was speaking with the voice of the
Lord God. A vengeful God who eradicated people that tried to get in the way
of project quantum Leap which is why they continued to get funding.

That's the 1990s version with Alyssa Milano, not the 2013 version - I

But you can laugh at her fake boobs and enjoy the fact that she’s obviously
not enjoying being naked on camera.

Christ. Ubi the shithead never stops trolling. You wrote "TCM". The
shithead once again changed it to "TMC" as he's been doing for years.

The difference is, he doesn’t get TCM.

It depends movie to movie. With this one, it has a generally adult tone
to it. The plot was actually very similar to the recent "The Batman."
However I think that movie based its' script off the same comic so
similarities aren't that surprising. With this one I noticed the
violence more than the swearing. Lot of people getting killed where you
see the bullet hole and blood coming out. Unless they were killed by
other means where you still see the violent death with blood everywhere.
