I watched:

THE NEWS AND WHY IT MATTERS:
Why did Drew Barrymore get on her knees for Dylan Mulvaney? More videos of
President Biden's recent interview on "The Daily Show" are coming out.
President Joe Biden will announce a sweeping executive order to increase the
number of background checks conducted on gun buyers and to crack down on
firearms dealers. The U.S. military has confirmed that a Russian fighter jet
collided with an American Reaper drone over international airspace, downing
and destroying the unmanned aerial vehicle. The GOP-led House Oversight
Committee has revealed that a Chinese energy company sent a $3 million
payment to a company owned by an associate of the Bidens. Former press
secretary and current MSNBC commentator Jen Psaki revealed that President
Biden is not a morning person.
https://youtu.be/tChvLqQMz9g

THE CHAD PRATHER SHOW:
https://youtu.be/v0VkvYEboNQ

MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000:
"H. G. Wells' The Shape of Things to Come". In the future, Earth becomes
uninhabitable and man has set up colonies on the Moon. A madman decides to
destroy the colonies with his robots and automated ships, and only three
people and their robot can stop him. This movie was totally
incomprehensiable, but damn, Jack Palance rocked that purple cape!

My longest workday, so just soaps:

soaps: GH - Finn gave Victor his diagnosis - he has been given a
pathogen that specifically makes him impotent and nothing else, and he
was given it last winter, before X-Mas - Victor hasn't figured out who
did it yet (I'm pretty sure it was Selena Wu). And Dante tries to talk
Cody into telling Mac the truth - that Cody is Mac's son, and lied
about it for greedy reasons - but Cody doesn't seem like he's going to
budge. And the shooter dies but Sonny finds out that he was hired
anonymously - I can't tell if Dex hired the shooter to throw Sonny off
his trail, or if someone else sent the shooter.
DOOL - Gwen is at first horrified to discover that she slept with
Alex, but then decides to lean into it! Leo sees Alex nekkid! Johnny
confronts Stefan, and then EJ is about to do the same but Stefan has
already left the building. Sloan and Belle manage to convince Stefan to
drop the charges against Brady and Eric - I'm actually disappointed
here, as a storyline where Brady and Eric are sent to prison for about
6 months could have been fun!!

Recorded for later: Gotham Knights! (series premiere!), and "Cheer for
Your Life" (another Lifetime movie I saw just once about a year ago,
which is being rebroadcast on LMN this week for their "Spring Break
Breakdowns" movie fest!)

--
"Who would ever do this to him!?" - HottCiara on DOOL (04-27-2020), asking
who would stab Victor Kirakis... How about ANYONE WHO'S EVER MET HIM??!!

I'm still working my way through Gotham Knights. I did manage to watch:

Superman & Lois - "Closer" - Season 3 premier. Mostly background noise.
I know they recast one of the super kids, but I didn't notice the
difference while watching.

The Equalizer - "Second Chance" - Episode from a few weeks ago. Mostly
background noise.

I watched 'The Forever Purge' (Netflix disc).
This is the latest, and possibly last, Purge movie. Set in Texas the
protagonists in this one are a Mexican couple that snuck under the
NFFA's border wall a little under a year prior and a wealthy ranching
family. They all successfully lock-down thru the official Purge but the
next morning have encounters with "Forever Purgers". A national
group/movement that wants The Purge to be a permanent state of affairs
so they can get rid of all the "foreigners". Think real world
right-wing militias out to exterminate anyone who isn't suitable for a
White Christian Nationalist USA who think the Nazi's didn't go far
enough. The NFFA declares martial law nation wide, Mexico and Canada
announce they will close their US borders in six hours but will accept
anyone from the US who is unarmed as refugees until then. So our heroes
have their McGuffin for traveling across Texas in the middle of all
this, with appropriate problems along the way. As they are traveling
the NFFA's attempt at using the military to end the Forever Purge is not
going well and they basically lose the beginning of the new civil war.

The denouement of the movie is a news report that the US/NFFA government
has collapsed and the general population is taking up arms and fighting
the Forever Purgers across the entire country. The final shot of the
movie is a satellite picture of the nighttime US with all the power out
and the population centers in flames.

Sounds to me like no more Purge movies are planned.

I've done good in this world. Now I'm tired and just want to be a cranky
dirty old man.

Hey, thanks for asking!

I watched a couple recent episodes of NCIS Los Angeles, just to see where
they were prior to the conclusion. Boy, howdy, does this old tired show
deserve to die.

And then I turned to The CW (speaking of deserving to die).

\S/UPERMAN AND LAMEASS.

GOTHAM KNIGHTS.

SUPERMAN SO3E01
OMG what a horrible poorly crafted show written entirely by morons with no
experience in how anything in the world works.

So the boys are about to turn 16. Only the normal looking one cares about
getting his drivers license.

Freaky hair comes home to find replacement brother (they hire to look
alike, and you never notice the difference), studying on the porch making
notes in a notebook out of multiple reference works Surrounding him. What
are you studying for? His drivers license test.

Seriously? Multiple references and making notes?

Your drivers license test is entirely contained in a freaking little
pamphlet!

Meanwhile, his horrible mother is more horrible than ever. She tries to get
an interview with the doctor about a crime. Lord that even Clark admits,
there is no evidence of any kind is a crime Lord, but lowers his determined
to prove it anyway because that sounds journalism works in the
21st-century. So she gives a fake name but real symptoms to get into see
the doctor. The doctor decides she’s pregnant. Later she tells Clark that
the doctor still has some more tests to run by she’s pregnant. How the hell
many different tests does a doctor run to find out you’re pregnant? So
while they’re waiting for the doctor to run these myriad tests, Clark goes
to the local 7-Eleven and buys multiple pregnancy tests just so he can get
caught.

So normal son goes to the DMV and takes his driving test and gets his
license. Never mind that he’s still 15.

Later, the twins have a birthday. The birthday party starts out at the Kent
farm at night. Pretty awful party too. Lois does her best to make the boys
birthday miserable. Clark, hears an alarm and rushes off to where some guy
who he recognizes, but shouldn’t have powers is wrecking a city in broad
daylight. OK, maybe it’s the other side of the world. But then we cut back
to the party and it’s daytime or at least dusk in Kansas where the sky was
pitch black before. Then we cut back to the city under siege and it’s now
night there! How the hell long has Clark been gone and how the hell long
has this party been going on?

Meanwhile, Lana‘s horrible daughter, who dumped freaky twin, keeps
following him around and pouncing on him telling him he needs to respect
her wanting time away from him. I am so hoping his heat vision goes off.

Mystery bad guys collect the lifeless body of the marauder Clark was
fighting and hook him up to an IV and keep giving him shots hoping they
will revive him. Because that’s how IVs work. On lifeless bodies. And… It
actually works.

I have no idea what the hell they’re going for in any of their plots many
of which were even stupider than the ones I just described.

I told the DVR delete and cancel all upcoming episodes forever.

GOTHAM KNIGHTS S01E01.
This is just some weird ass shit. If you sort of like Batman, but don’t
know much about him and don’t mind watching a cheap knock off of GOTHAM,
then you might enjoy this. If you know much about Batman or have watched
other versions, this will probably give you a headache.

Bruce Wayne is murdered and his identity as the Batman exposed. Ian says in
IMDb that the actor will recur so maybe there’s going to be flashbacks.

None of Bruce Wayne’s first four sons are mentioned but there’s now a fifth
(made up for this show) that he adopted and nobody anywhere mentions all of
the thousands of lawsuits that would instantly be filed when Batman’s
identity became public.

This show would be 100% better if the lead character was somebody we’d
heard of before. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damien Wayne… Any of
them.

Alfred is now a black woman.

Carrie Kelly is now a black girl. And she’s apparently been operating as
Robin for some time and yet no one even knows there is a Robin. Which
doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Bruce Wayne’s office seems to be left over from Batteredwoman.

Three youts are framed for murdering Bruce and in turn Bruce’s son is
framed for hiring them to do it. One of the youts is jokers daughter, who
is probably the most heavily ret conned character in DC comics history, but
it’s generally agreed that she’s actually two faces daughter.
The other two youts may be brother and sister and may be who they say they
are or not. They are actual characters from the comics. Pretty much
everybody is but the lead but they’ve all had their back stories scrambled
probably because somebody was too lazy to read the comics or even
Wikipedia.

At the center of this is Harvey two face, except he never became two face
in this reality, he’s still Bruce’s best friend. And he’s the district
attorney, but the crooked cops and ADAs apparently run the city without his
input. And he swings wildly back-and-forth as to what side he’s on.

The only way anything that happens makes sense is if all the cops are in on
it, which turns out to be the case.

But if everybody everywhere is in on it, then what the hell is the point?

In the most laughable scene in the show, we are told that the Wayne family
battery of lawyers refuses to defend the sole surviving Wayne heir because
they think he might be guilty. Gentlemen, return your retainers!

We are told that the goal of all the crooked cops is to make sure the four
kids are dead. They have the stupidest ways of going about this imaginable.

There’s also a blonde girl, who is the Wayne son’s best friend who in the
comics was another Robin. And she hangs out in the green arrows clock
tower from Smallville.

The Batcave is the size of a small subdivision and pretty awesome but
nobody seems to have spent much time looking around it and finding the
Batmobile or anything.

In the second most laughable scene in the show, they find the Batcave by
throwing something breakable with liquid in it and accidentally breaking it
near the door, and they can hear through the wall, the liquid dripping down
the steps inside the cave. That’s really really freaking noisy liquid.
Luckily the second brick they touch just swings the door open with no
security features of any kind.

The other big mistake is that this just all looks like an ugly and fairly
flat city. There’s none of the cool factor of GOTHAM in the architecture.

Verdict? It’s only sort of OK but after SUPERMAN, it felt like genius.

I’ll be back next week.

I'm not sure what their plan was. The logical thing to do is to get
them to the prison and then have them killed their by one or more of
the inmates. Shouldn't be a problem for the Council of Owls. Instead
it seems like they planned to kill them on the way to the prison, but
they weren't going to stage an escape so they just planned to shoot
them while manacled and explain it as self defense?

I was thinking that was going to be how they found the entrance just
before it happened. Well, without the noisy dripping liquid as I
didn't expect that. Yes, pressing down on one brick is all it takes to
get into the bat cave so it's a miracle that no one has discovered it
before when we know that at least the kid has had parties at Wayne
Manor with lots of guests wandering around the place.

Oh and the security to get to Oracle's tower (yes, I'm going to go
ahead with that Watch tower name) is greater than to the bat cave as
it is behind a marked off area and has a security lock on the gate to
get to it.

You think? I caught the bit about “don’t call him by his dead name“ but I

Like I said, before, I don’t see how any of their plan works, unless every
single cop and Gotham is in on it.

She’s Stephanie Brown. She was Tim Drake‘s girlfriend. She was the fourth
robin and the third batgirl. I think. Her father was the villain
cluemaster. Along the way, she gets knocked up (not by Robin) and gives the
baby away. She gets captured by the bad guys and tortured (almost to
death), and then (maybe) dies in the hospital, being murdered by Leslie
Tompkins (!).

That's ME!! :)

Also, me.

Though, it's "Gotham, with a teen/YA twist".

The one thing that I don't understand is Harvey Dent being here...

> Bruce Wayne is murdered and his identity as the Batman exposed. Ian says in

I removed that from the Wiki article - they cite no source for
"recurring", and I bet he only ever shows up in the pilot, and maybe
one other episode...

OK, that did bother me.

Let's pretend, for the sake of argument, that this is "post-Titans" -
where the hell is Dick Grayson?!

> This show would be 100% better if the lead character was somebody we’d
> heard of before. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damien Wayne… Any of

Actually, I'm OK with them making up a new adopted son - it frees them
from having to follow the comics.

But it bothers me that none of the previous Robins are referenced.

> Alfred is now a black woman.

She's clearly Asian, but OK.

And she's EVOL!!1! which came as no surprise.

> Carrie Kelly is now a black girl. And she’s apparently been operating as

Major problems here - Navia Robinson is *tiny*. Olivia Rose Keegan is
small (and skinny), but Robinson is *tiny*. Too tiny to be believable
in any fight scene.

> Bruce Wayne’s office seems to be left over from Batteredwoman.

Heh - The C-Wub needs to save its pennies!!

I hope they stick with her being the Joker's daughter - makes for a
better story.

Needless to say, and as I was expecting, Olivia Rose Keegan as Duella
is the best part about this show. *By far*.

> The other two youts may be brother and sister and may be who they say they
> are or not.

Yikes! Fallon Smythe has *not* aged well, in just a few years!! (It may
be a function of the make-up, but I think it's also that she hasn't
aged well...)

> They are actual characters from the comics. Pretty much

Again, I suspect it is by design, so they can ignore the comics at will.

They are clearly in the "alternate" "Fringe" reality!! ;)

> he’s still Bruce’s best friend. And he’s the district

Yeah, so this is the part I really don't like - Dent is not "Two-Face"
here. Would be easy to explain that too - just say he's the original
Harvey Dent's *son*. Problem solved. But, no - they seem to want us to
think it's the actual original Harvey Dent. (I really hope there's an
explanation here - like he's wearing make-up or nanotech or something!!)

> The only way anything that happens makes sense is if all the cops are in on
> it, which turns out to be the case.

Except for Dent, apparently.

But, yeah - I probably should have figured that all of the cops were in on it.

> But if everybody everywhere is in on it, then what the hell is the point?

It's "Man Against Town", my late father's favorite genre!! ;)

> In the most laughable scene in the show, we are told that the Wayne family

Yeah, that was just stupid... Unless the Owls are into the law firm as
well (which I guess is possible...).

> We are told that the goal of all the crooked cops is to make sure the four
> kids are dead. They have the stupidest ways of going about this imaginable.

To be fair, it didn't seem like the intent was to kill them in
transport, but to kill them once they got to the real prison.

> There’s also a blonde girl, who is the Wayne son’s best friend who in the
> comics was another Robin. And she hangs out in the green arrows clock

OK, I am about 100% sure that's she's a baddie/plant. Yeah, I know -
her comics character is supposed to be a "hero". But on the TV show,
she's giving off all kinds of skeevy vibes, starting with her screwing
what is clearly the high school villain!!

My theory is that she was part of the frame-up of Bruce's adopted son.

> The Batcave is the size of a small subdivision and pretty awesome but

There was at least one vehicle shown there, yeah.

Except for the "Fringe" airships!!

> Verdict? It’s only sort of OK but after SUPERMAN, it felt like genius.
>
> I’ll be back next week.

My biggest problem is Navia Robinson as Robin - it's hard enough to buy
Olivia Rose Keegan kicking dudes' asses, but because Keegan is the best
thing going here, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief. But Robinson is
even tinier than her, and is not at all credible as "kick-ass". I'm
going to call "miscast".

My second problem is if adoptee Turner's bestie doesn't turn out to be
a "villain/plant". If she's supposed to be a "good guy", then it's
either terrible direction of the character in the pilot, miscasting, or
both. But nothing about this "Stephanie" chyck comes off as being "on
the level"!

But I didn't think this sucked at all, and Keegan will keep me
watching, despite some of the problems I have with this.

Yep - totally unnecessary "woke" change/alteration here.

The one thing I actually like about the new "management" at The CW is
that they are likely to put an end to this kind of nonsense. But the
"wokeness" of The CW (see also The SQUIGGLE!!1! Channel) has been
getting progressively worse to the point where it's been sabotaging the
watchability of many of their shows.

Again, it makes sense if you assume the Owls either own the law firm,
or at least own the key people at the firm.

That is what Duella said was planned, and I think she was right.

No, the kids staged an unexpected breakout. So the dirty cops just
thought they would take advantage of that and kill them there.

OTOH, that clearly *wasn't* their "orders", and I can't imagine the
Owls would take kindly to this kind of "improvising" from their hired
cop flunkies!!

They were freed from their cuffs, and had beaten several cops, and
taken one hostage - the dirty cops did have a ready-made
justification/story for executing them!

(But, like I said - that clearly wasn't their "orders", and I doubt
they'd deviate from their "orders" like that.)

No, Deadline speculated that she's Taskmaster's daughter.

I wouldn't expect most people around here to like this. But this isn't
nearly as bad as it could be (except for some miscasting), and I would
like to see where it goes, particularly in terms of Duella.

They could at least pretend to defend him. To back out of it entirely
makes it plain that at least someone high up in the firm is working
against the sole surviving Wayne heir.

See, that doesn't make sense to me in terms of what we saw. If the
intention was to have the kids get killed after they got to prison
then there was no need for all the cops (or any of them) escorting the
kids to prison to be corrupt. They could all have been just regular
hard working cops doing the job of escorting the 'criminals' to the
prison. (Though one has to admit that's a fast transfer to prison.)
The only reason for them all to be corrupt is if they planned to do
something to the kids on the way to the prison, or so it seems to me.

>> Instead

That's why they planned to kill them their but it felt like they must
have planned to hurt/kill the kids before they got to the prison.
Hence the reason they had nothing but corrupt cops escorting them.

That's what happened after the escape. I'm talking about what I

nothing but corrupt cops escorting the kids.)

Doesn't matter as the setup says she SHOULD be Oracle even if she
isn't. :)
