I have none to share with you since (like cheesetray) I don't remember either of mine; but I can tell you a wonderful story about Spike Cohen, the Libertarian VP nominee in 2020. (His mother told it to a reporter that year.

Cohen loved his zeyde, who'd regularly visit, and made it a point to attend all the boy's birthday parties. However, he died shortly before Spike's 6th birthday, and the boy missed him. Especially, he knew he would miss seeing Zeyde at his birthday party.

So, a few days later, he came to his mother and asked: "Mom, can Father Abraham come to my birthday party?" Unfortunately, she had to say: "No, son, Father Abraham is dead."

Then, a few days later, he came to her with another idea: "Mom, can Moses come to my birthday party?" Once again, she had to say no: "Moses is dead, too."

To which the boy replied: "Wow, Mom! First Zeyde, then Father Abraham, now Moses - they're dropping like flies!"

Mine, too, cheesetray. I have no first-hand memories of either of them. But I do have memories.

My mother's father, James, was at the time of his death a formidable old man who may have been wealthy but in any case was a formidable patriarch. At least I inferred from one story I remember about him: I heard an aunt tell how, when being driven somewhere by his family, he shit his pants, and none of the kids dared say a word about the smell.

I know even less about my father's father, Harry, only that he was somewhat of a political radical, who named his first three sons after David Lloyd George. But I do remember that I was close to one of them (who I'm guessing was Harry), based on another memory of mine.

When I was 7 or 8, I went outside and saw a grey-headed old white guy in a suit walking up our driveway. I immediately thought "That's my Grandpa!" and went running toward him with my arms out, yelling "Grandpa! Grandpa!" Then when I got closer, I realized he was a stranger, stopped and dropped my hands, and said, "Oh! It's you!" He mumbled something like "Good lad" and passed me by.

One thing O can say about my Grandpa is that he was a gentle, kind hearted person, and very well liked… there’s a quote from Maya Anglou that captures a large aspect of who he was, Imo(thigh not by any means everything obviously, we’re all so exceedingly complex, complicated…) “you will forget what people said, you will forget what people did, but you will never forget the way someone made you feel.”… my grandfather had the ability quite often the k make people feel loved and appreciated…

Don't sweat it; if you type "O" for "I" or whatever, everyone should still be able to read your post and know what you're saying. Typos in prose posts should never have been an issue here, and I think they finally aren't one; everyone who made them one seems to have jumped ship.
