I think Jackie was threatened by LBJ after the assassination of JFK and told that, in effect, no Kennedy would hold high office again. RFK tried and failed, so would have Ted if it hadn't been for Chapaquiddick...and I think JFK Jr. was slated to try...it is definitely a tragedy.

I don't understand RFK Jr's statements at all. You may be right that he is suffering from something...

There's a writer named Jesse Kornbluth who argues that the most important woman in JFK's life was Mary Pinchot Meyer -- an accomplished and artistic free-spirited type who was murdered in 1964.

There was a lot of buzz around Meyer some time back when a letter to her from JFK was auctioned off. I think it sold for around $90,000. In it, he addresses Meyer as "Love," and begs her to meet him "here or on the Cape or in Boston." Supposedly Meyer rebuffed Kennedy's entreaties as often as not..

There was a great (ID Channel?) documentary about Meyer, her relationship with Kennedy, and her controversial death, but I'm unable to find it online at the moment.

What is this thai-spamming? The same thing happened on rmd. Ironically, it started after I asked for info about where Bob Dylan was when John Lennon was killed...Don't know if there is a connection, or if is just an odd coincidence...

BTW, Bob appears to have been a 'nowhere man' at the time of John Lennon's death. He had just come off a tour, ending in Portland, OR on Dec 4, 1980. So far I have not been able to find any statement that he made immediately after finding out John had been killed.

Dylan was in the midst of his Christian phase, right? I remember hearing that he would ask "How many of you have been reborn?" of his audiences. It made me cringe.

Lennon recorded himself bashing Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody" as "mediocre, pathetic and embarrassing." In the same home-recording, he critiques McCartney and Jagger as well. In the cases of those two, Lennon may have merely been envious of their continued musical productivity.
