Yes, were never intentional encounters. They're bigger and meaner than
the boars I encountered in Germany.

Hmm, wonder how many can say they've been treed by pigs on two continents?

The state of texas seems to disagree about the peccary, at least:

"Javelina have long held an undeserved reputation
for ferocity. They have poor eyesight and will often
remain around humans longer than other wildlife when
startled. When cornered, they can defend themselves
very effectively with sharp canine teeth or "tusks".
Many dogs have been crippled or killed when trying to
attack javelina. Yet aggressive encounters with humans are
very, very rare."

And they go on to make suggestions, like _DON'T FEED THEM_.

That's a lot of live non-stock roaming about at will.

Perhaps fencing them in would help ...

or maybe gene therapy to reduce reproductive success.

Sadly, I do not watch documentaries, and did not like the one or two
"docudramas" (or whatever /The Big Short/, say, is to be called) that
I was inveigled into watching. So that will not be possible.

Exceptions are:
-- Woodstock (a true documentary, as opposed to a propaganda piece)
-- What We Do In the Shadows (which is, of course, generally
considered a mockumentary, but who can say?) (the movie, not any
related TV series)
--
"I begin to envy Petronius."
"I have envied him long since."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl_(miniseries) is quite good
(but takes some liberties with accuracy).

_The Last Waltz_ is well done, although perhaps more as a concert
film as a documentary.

Out. They need to be fenced out...they're already in, which is the problem.
The other problem is building a fence that they can't go through or under
with sufficient motivation.
When we moved into our current house about 15 years ago we would sometimes see
5-10 of them if we went out very early and see the marks they left rooting.
Now it's 2-3 times that many and they're out during the day, although they
at least stay out of the streets (during the day anyway).
