I would be astounded if it was. It would be fantastic if thrilling wonder
stories about teens in space did not predate RSG since teens were the main
market for early SF.

This would be almost a perfect introduction to "The Only Neat Thing to Do", by James Tiptree Jr.

Every time I search to check a reference to this I find that it is big in Japan - today's search found https://tanoshimi.xyz/2016/11/29/yes-sadpanda-is-one-of-my-sources/

How about a story of sending teens back from space to a nuclear war
ravaged Earth ? They even made a tv show of it. "The 100" by Kass Morgan.

I have read the "Rocketship Galileo" of course. Maybe the Vonda
McIntyre book, I am not sure.

John Varley's "Red Thunder" is wonderful addition to this group.

Hey, "The 100" tv show went seven seasons with 100 episodes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_100_(TV_series)

I am not sure if the book series was written before or after the tv
show. Looks like the first book in the series preceded the tv show.
You can watch all seven seasons of the tv show on Netflix.

The books definitely came before because the show credits included an
"inspired by" credit for them. But as with most adaptations the show
had little to do with the books beyond the title. From a report by one
of the regulars in r.a.tv the entire book series covers the first 24
hours after landing on Earth. Dat's it. And apparently was almost all
teen angst soap opera. :D

That beats my bids, _Adrift in the Stratosphere_ (1937) -
whose cast may not be teens: they have motorcycles -
(<https://www.tor.com/2022/04/13/accidental-adventure-adrift-in-the-stratosphere-by-professor-a-m-low/>)
and, at the risk of spoiling _The First Men in the Moon_
(1900-1901) - best read as dark comedy - "a lean little boy",
probably not a teen, who gets a ride in the moon-ship.

You may have an unfair advantage. :-)

I think I saw some of that. The first season maybe? It was your
standard "shot in and around Vancouver" SF series. The teen angle
allowed the casting of a lot of twenty-somethings at the start of
their career, when they are cheap. The lead was imported from
Australia. IIRC, in the first episode her Australian accent broke
through a few times, afterwards she passed for North American, at
least to my ear.

Anyway, it was on US network TV, so it was very generic.

The TV show was definitely marketed as based on a book.

An article on /Christianity Today/ on African-American homeschoolers
reveals "WOKE" as an acronym used with various meanings.

Whether this is the origin of the anti-woke hysteria is unknown to me.

As far as I make out, to be "woke" is to recognize prejudice,
in particular when it's against African-Americans and when
there's an immediate threat of actual harm.

The opposite position, therefore, is to refuse to recognize
prejudice. And there are other uses of "woke", such as
against other prejudices, but the fundamental question
is simply of whether you find race violence acceptable,
or not.

Is that part of the argument? And if so, where?

I watched the first two or three seasons and burnt out on it.

Somewhere, somehow, the "--" dropped out.

As the "--" was intended to indicate, this is a sig.

It's from /Christianity and Classical Culture/ by Charles Norris
Cochrane, ISBN 0-19-500207-5.

IIRC, (one of?) the items referred to was a law, passed by the (Roman,
not US) Senate requiring the Pater Familias to have a /reason/ if he
wanted to put one of his children to death. This was a great
impediment to his absolute power over his children.

Traditional Family Values -- enforced by the Taliban. Even nastier in
Rome than in the 50s.
