I never saw any link to click since I don't do NNTP on my Macbook. I'm
thinking that if I did, it would go to my temp files rather than my
Downloads directory. I'm not sure how Apple handles share links though.

Just to clarify - are you saying that you don't read newsgroup posts on
your MacBookPro?

What about Google Group posts? Would you click a link therein on your Mac?

If I click on the link to watch - some claim that the video would be
automagically downloaded onto my computer.

Should that be so, WHERE on my hard-drive(s) will the video/data be stored?

If you view it in a browser it might get downloaded to a cache. That would be
in your Library folder, under Safari (or whatever browser you use).

Do you mean on a device OTHER than your MacBook Pro?

I suspect that you'll not see it appear on your iCloud Drive. I cannot
reproduce the finding, no matter what I have tried.

Seen it before, had the choice of download or sign in, so I downloaded.
It is in my downloads folder. Still nothing in my iCloud Drive. I don't
know what would have happened had I been already signed in to iCloud.
