I've been trying to find the episode that was in but can't. Maybe I

As I said to McT: this isn’t likely to be a typical reaction of a “mine
host” surely. Kenton’s just being shortsighted. As Jolene said they have
rooms away from the bar to be used. Another plug for the card index: they
were named.

It was the Gill family. I don't think they trashed it, as such, just
didn't share Jenny's taste in interior decor and, in particular, weren't
keen on her beloved new kitchen. A lot of stuff got ripped out and
replaced in the weeks after they arrived.

They haven't been heard of since but, as Chris says, there's no way of
knowing if they were always intended to be sleepers or whether a
storyline involving them got canned. Occasionally, on Twitter, Keri
will confirm, when pushed, that they are still there and not forgotten.

The Gills bought it, replaced the kitchen, wrecked the statues in the
garden, had a lot of parties at weekends and generally failed to
interact with the villagers as typical second home owners.

I don't remember that at all. Perhaps I was multi-tasking when that happened.

I'm wondering how either the café or the pub are going to fare as warm
places for the community in the medium term or long term. Commercial
premises don't have the same protections in terms of an energy price
cap as domestic users and back in West Yorkshire, local newspapers are
writing about similar premises where the energy costs used to be
something like 4-7k per year but which are soaring to figures around
ten times that amount. Will either business be able to afford to stay
open?

I'm unashamedly Gillivering ATM - I've even put it in a temporary .sig

Is it not time the local church stepped in to provide some warm space,
as many churches, certainly in Scotland, are doing?

Mine Dew, churches themselves tend to be the least efficient buildings to
keep warm due to their volume and most of that being well above useable

would be a more suitable venue - Alan might care to round up some

Is church heating up to it?
I recall having a meeting with the Deacon and our dreadful vicar in the
church one March day - it was freezing in there!
