I read the news on the BBC News app. It's lovely and quick at the moment
because of filtering out anything to do with some boring sport and some
equally boring kiss and tell Netflix fiction. Anyone else feel the same?

Yes. But as I only read the unusual or scientific or cultural it’s often
only worth looking every few days: not a lot happens if you ignore the hour
by hour summaries, plus I don’t do the videos.

I stopped watching the 'national' news a year or so back, and rarely
actually listen to radio news.

Yes, that is about right. All I would add is, after "English
grammar", "pronunciation and enunciation".

There are some appalling speakers on R4 these days.

They are sometimes very unclear. My hearing is deteriorating and I
listen to the radio in bed without hearing aids. Some voices and
accents are really difficult. Strong Scots is one of those.

Me too. I find that if I try to correct someone's grammar/ spelling/
usage I make at least as bad a mistake as they did. Perhaps I should do
it more frequently/ regularly, often or not at all. Sea wot I did their?
