Only sad when he's calling *others* attention whores when he is one
himself. Also, IIRC, he didn't do the work, it was done by the previous
owner. Recall, he bought it *sight unseen*, then whinged about what he'd
got for his $50k.

FWIW, I have no problem with people who love old cars. My mate here has
4 early grey motor Holdens - FJ to EK - that he has fully restored from
rusty rolling wrecks. #respect! And he's not a mechanic #respect again!
He now possesses some of my text books that cover his preferred era of
cars. Another has a couple of 70s US iron, another a 74 MGB. Down the
hill not far from here another has not one but two F100s in his garage
that are 60s or 70s vintage. There's a lot of retirees here who love
restoring cars and bikes, there's even a local rat rod. But cars were my
stock in trade, they were what I worked on (or taught) for a living,
they are never going to be *my hobby*.

Ditto my Toy or the wife's Swift. That's how I like it, less likely to
be knocked off. My mate is very leery now about people admiring his
Falcon XR8 after it was knocked off once.

Nah, as it is *now* is pretty much how he bought it.
If I bought one of my mate's early Holdens from him, then paraded it
around the streets as if it were my resto, would I deserve any respect?

Yep, exactly! It gets worse than that though. A friend in Melbourne had
a new 911 Porsche about 25+ years ago. Every time he parked it anywhere
some bastard put door dings in it. Back then it cost $5k to fix - every
single time. He wasn't one to own garage queens so he got shed of it on
the grounds it just wasn't a practical car to own.

Any car I own will be a *daily driver* and, as such, it has to be
practical and useful, no ego stroking garage queens in this household.

same. I have no desire to own a super expensive car. a local doctor was
driving a black Maserati. we would see it parked outside the clinic.
then he was using a generic Toyota. I think he may have had the same
issue as your mate!

Ummm, you're doing exactly what you're bleating Clock should be doing.
He's only "sharing" because *you* choose to read it. Well played.

Also... "...(just as most people do with yours)...". Not only is this
factually incorrect, the only people who *claim*(1) to "ignore" my posts
are The Fraudster & Deryl, it's also typically stupid of you. That you
choose to attempt to censure some for telling the truth while ignoring
the lies, vitriol, hypocrisy of another is a mystery to *most*.

hth

alvey
(1) You're also ignoring the *fact* that The Fraudster has a widely known
& storied history of replying *directly* to people who he has repeatedly
brayed are in his mighty (snigger) killfile.

Speaking of extra smelly, I went out to Moonee Beach the other day to
see a rather special flower he has. One of these;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konjac

It is now *flowering*. You cannot believe how badly it stinks! They
don't call it a corpse flower for nothing. One lady thought, unwisely it
turned out, she would get up close and take a very deep sniff. Bad move,
got waaaay too close, ended up gagging. You can be 20 or 30 metres away
and still smell it. An indoor plant it definitely is not! Fortunately it
only smells when it flowers and it does that only once every 4 to 7
years and only for a week or two at that! Just imagine one of these in a
typical urban garden! You'd be raided by the cops looking for a body.
They'd dig up *all* your garden. Hang on, that might not be a bad thing,
save you some work if you time it right.

So, I see your extra smelly fart and raise you a corpse flower! ;-)
