Also for cement, the making of.

Used to fire the kilns, and the iron in the wires also does something useful,

Looking at my favourite utube video, Queen at Wembley, 1986, makes me
think that all the young people there are approaching 60 now.

There are many scrapyards and recycling centres who will swear blind
that they are prone to spontaneous combustion. The last one within sight
of where I was living took three days to put out.

Near the Dunlop factory in Birmingham, where they make hairyplane tyres
now and used to make tyres for Jaguar cars, which were made in a factory
next door, there is a plant to burn them cleanly to produce electrickery.

You do sometimes need to search hard to find the matches, but they will

Just to the NW of the A638 junction of the A1(M) north of Doncaster,
there is an infilled quarry that is full of tyres. They were dumping
them in there for years in the 70s & 80s when I ran plant in and out of
the adjacent yard.

Useta have photos prior to the last divorce.

There was a flourishing trade, in some countries, in turning sections of
tyre tread into footwear.
Terrific grip in wet conditions.

Garden irrigation hose (leaky hose type) useta be made from finely
chopped tyres. I don't know if they still do, since there were concerns
about the contamination in tyres entering the food chain.
