The UK was taken into the Common Market by Parliament without even a
hint of public consultation.

And the relevant Act of Parliament was passed in 1971, with an accession
date in 1973.

Now that you have cloned your views from The Grauniad, you “think” that democracy is great when the people agree with you, and “broken” when they don’t.

I’m not necessarily against the idea of people having to show they’re at least somewhat informed and non-parasitic before being allowed to vote, but you shouldn’t assume for a minute that you would be allowed to vote under such a system - or that results under such a system would be more what you (or rather The Grauniad) wanted.

I think the essential problem was that "We won't change anything, and nothing will change" is a rubbish concept to market, whereas "Everything will change, there will be sunshine and unicorns and a magic money tree" is easier to market (even if it's all at best exaggeration and at worst, utter lies).

I'm not sure the Leave campaign found their magic money tree lies that easy to market. Much baser emotions were available to exploit which is why they went balls-deep on immigration lies for the later part of the campaign.
