A little further down the street, there is a Yucca tree growing in a ~4
foot deep front garden. This was towering over their roof, the house is
4 stories high (as in ground , 1st, 2nd, 3rd and roof). There were tufts
of leaves at various points up the substantial stem blocking the light
into windows, and an apology for a bog brush at the top.

I noticed the other day that they have reduced it to a third of its
previous height leaving just one tuft of leaves. Personally I would
have taken it a lot lower hoping for the best outcome. Yucca are not
native to the UK and seems to add nothing to the ecosystem in this
country.

SWMBO picked up a tuft of leaves knocked off (not in the criminal sense)
the stem of one for sale in a DIY multiple store. She has rooted it (it
sprouted large roots almost at the sniff of water) and insisted in
planting it in our garden. I suspect I may experiment to see how
resistant it is to weedkiller, next spring. To be fair SWMBO has planted
it where there used to be a sycamore.

To err is human. To really foul things up requires a computer and the BOFH.

It was by a wall <Grin>, even an old wall, but Victorian. It fell down
as a result of rotting and growing at an angle. It lost the competition
with its neighbour, a hornbeam, which is laughing and growing even
taller.
