Is that something that a dashcam inside the vehicle could record?

We fitted security valve caps. That has stopped it.

How would a camera inside see the wheels?

I suppose it might see someone approaching the vehicle.

A camera or cameras looking at the vehicle would be better. Hopefully, a
better chance of seeing a face.

I assume there is either a dispute over parking or perhaps it is a 4x4
being targeted?

Certainly report it to the police. Tampering with a vehicle is an offence.

Someone here suggested locking valve caps. Very cheap, and they have
done the job. No problems since they were fitted.

Re the non-starting car, the flattery was going batt overnight. Our
'garage' wanted to change a computer module costing about £350 !

We called out a mobile vehicle electrician who removed a 12amp fuse
(don't know what else it did, but it also controlled the glove
compartment light) and the car has been fine ever since! That cost the
£50 call-out charge.

Regarding SUVs, living in a cul-de-sac next to a primary school we’ve taken
a dim view to the growth in size of vehicles over the years. My daughter
who’s recently provided us with a grandchild has also been likewise
disdainful.

Now though, she’s finding that the growth in cars is partly down to the
massive car seats that are mandated for carrying children around in
nowadays. It seems that they have to be rear facing seats until puberty (or
thereabouts) and fitting these in with any hope of carrying a front seat
passenger requires a big car/SUV.

There's one thing I have directly against SUVs, when they pull-up at
your right hand side at a junction, blocking your view of oncoming traffic.

As it happens I needed a hire car a fortnight ago, and they upgraded me
to a smallish-SUV, the heightened driving position was somewhat handy
for driving around unfamiliar welshish roads, but I still wouldn't buy one.

Another reason is that modern cars have airbags and other safety
features such as crumple zones in all sorts of unexpected places such as
in the doors, which makes the doors thicker, so to make enough space
inside, the car has to be wider. The BMW "Mini" is no wider inside than
the original, but a lot fatter outside.

When I bought it, my Lard Roller used to be one of the wider vehicles on
the road and was very easy to find in most car parks, as it was the
tallest one there. Now it gets lost in the crowds and I can get it
through narrower gaps than most saloon cars.

Being wide they tend to stray into bus lanes, blocking the progress of
buses. The frequency of a SUV blocking a bus lane is high. One person in
the SUV is delaying 30+ people who also want to get home for their tea,
after a hard day in the shop, on the ward, in the factory, looking after
the single SUV driver's mother, etc.

Unless you hit/are hit by another Land Rover, when you become a crumple
zone.
