But where is there to go too? The problem with web forums is that they have
an owner and he she they or it, may decide what is and is not allowed. I am
on a number of mailing lists who have well meaning, but draconian ways of
not letting posts onto the system.
At least Usenet is mainly hands off except if it expressly says moderated
and this does mean delays. I'd actually physically remove groups that seem
to be created merely by idiots, and then look at usage and only keep one of
each topic. Those who really want to chat about sex with fish or best
methods of suicide can make a mailing list instead. Of course how you might
describe this group has me foxed. How would you define shedism?

Partly yes - it's getting quite hard to maintain a trusted mail
relay and the moment an ISP relay gets blacklisted none of their customers
can send emails to anyone using that blacklist. I used to use my ISPs relay
(which they'd stopped advertising but was available if you asked) but found
that some people simply never received my emails and I never got bounce
messages.

My solution was to continue running my own incoming email set up and
send outgoing email via a free tier account (limited to 2000 emails per
month and lacking some of their analytics products and APIs IIRC) with a big
commercial email provider who make a business out of ensuring that
legitimate email goes through.
