I understood that to be an Edinburgh line (now replaced with "but you'll be
driving". According to Stanley Baxter, the Aberdeen one was that you were
ushered into the front room, the table was groaning with food, beautifully
cooked and very reasonably priced."

I don't know where this happened, but the story is that someone had to
translate to another language an English item about some politian's
invalid wife. He read 'invalid' (ill) as 'not valid' and translated it
as his equivalent of 'common-law' (i.e. not married). The company was
sued.
