I think that's how you were supposed to take them, as I don't think it
was water soluble.

When I was a kid one of our neighbours used to take them every time the
weather changed. She was the stereotypical street busy-body who would
get herself into a flap about going out to check the mailbox, and she
kept the fucking things in her apron pocket. If a strange car drove down
the street she'd pull out a Bex, unfold the paper and pour it down her
gob and then wash it down with a glass of water.

As you would expect, she died of Kidney failure in her 60's.

I still remember there being little glass bottles of Bex pills though.
Did they move from powder to pills later in the piece? Another I recall
is Vincents, just the name, can't recall if they were pills or powder.

Anyway, the *evidence* I provided above proves conclusively my memory
wasn't faulty nor did I lie, they did have Bex tablets back in the dark
ages of my youth. They also had Bex powders. I recalled the Bex bottles
but when Keith said they had powders, I thought maybe the tablets were
some other brand. Turns out it was likely the other way round, plenty of
evidence of Bex powders & tablets out there and when I googled up a pic
of the actual pill bottle, it brought back memories. that Bex bottle was
certainly distinctive. When I saw the pack of Bex powder, the name
Vincents popped into my mind. Looked it up, sure enough, very similar to
the Bex packet. Pretty sure that was the powder I was given that tasted
foul. Long time ago though.
