IIRC, shirt haul is much worse than long haul as most of the pollution
takes place at take off and landing. (So 1 long haul better than many
short haul).

There was a spin-off of Psycho called 'Bates Motel' where she played the
mother. She was very, very good.

She also plays Livia Soprano in the prequel (The Many Saints of Newark) which
I'm yet to see but looking forward to.

Only on a per-mile basis. Long haul has the takeoff and landing *and*
the longer bit in between. Though that might be mitigated a tiny
fraction by higher cyclic loads on the airframe leading to shorter
shorter lifespan. Maybe. Possibly, with a tailwind.

is placed high in the atmosphere

Long haul flights tend to involve rather more km than short ones.

The best thing about SriLankan Airlines is the plane smells like curry from the moment you board.
The worst thing about SriLankan Airlines is the plane still smells like curry when you get off 11 hours later.

The best thing about being on holiday in Sri Lanka was being able to have a proper scorching hot curry for breakfast every day. I drew the line at fish though. Especially first thing in the morning.

One of these days I'll have a stab at recreating the tandoori shepherds pie from the St Andrews in Nuwara Eliya. It was, as Michael Winner would have said, historic.

Well, I'd be happy to use the phone, but it's far quicker to just shove
a bunch of papers into the hands of the powers that be. Also, for my
Mum, it's just easier for her.

The first time I went to Oslo (many, many years ago...) I arrived at the airport
in the evening and suddenly realised that I had no clue of the exchange rate.

I wandered up to an ATM, prodded the middle amount and got some money
out. I then thought "Well, I've either not got enough to get a taxi to town, or
enough to buy the effing thing...". Things are so much simpler now.
