'Tis a long time - many hectofortnights - since I saw that view. A
couple who were friends of my mother (all now sadly no longer with us)

I was told "Murzle". St Austell is pronounced "Snozzle", although in the
Midlands St Afford and St Oke are pronounced in a different fashion.

The version I heard from my Mum, in turn from the couple of friends of
Mum's who ran 'The Mousehole', was 'Mouzle', but there are probably many
more.

Fowey depended upon which side of the metaphorical railway track heem
came from. Foy or Foey, 'e' sound was just hinted at.

I believe that emmets are also ants, therefore tourists because there
are thousands of them. Grockles are snails therefore caravans because
they tow their shells behind them and are slow.

I have also lived in Hampshire and the these words are also used there.

Emmet was originally, according to the OED, was yemmet and variations of
it reach up into Scotland.

It's nice being able to get Proper Job in the Midlands. Not Big Job
though, that seems to be brewery shop only.

We stay round the corner from Portmellon, in Gorran Haven. I've been
going there since I was a baby. Haven't been to the Rising Sun for three
or four years, must try and get round there this year.
