Has it really changed that much ? I did it pre-brexshit - Harwich - Hook - Hirtshals - Langesund and spent a week driving over to Haugesund via very scenic roads.
There were no checks bar a brief wave of the passport at Hook to a very enthusiastic customs chap who was more interested in the car than the passport..

There was a little matter of Covid restrictions last year ....... so
went to Ireland instead.

And then Spain when things eased.

Not sure how/if I will get away this year.

Sadly, even Private Eye got this wrong - P&O Cruises were sponsoring
some event and PE was being scathing about the 800 made unemployed. Must
see if there's been a correction to that.
