I waited until Monday (oh, Tuesday) and called MintMobile.

Their service has been excellent, and cheap, until now.

But the guy on the phone kept bringing up silent mode, even though I
told him it works half the time.

And he had such a strong accent I couldn't understand everything he
said, and he kept saying Thank you for being a customer, thank you for
choosing us. Is there anything else we can help you with? Have a nice
day, etc. and calling me by my first name.

I think he told me at the end that I should put the sim in a different
phone and he would call me on the cell, then call me back in 20 minutes,
but I don't know what he really said.

It won't prove a thing if the other phone rings. The current phone
rings half the time too. So there is no point to doing this.

It's a pain to change phones, almost easier to do a reset, at least that
might well work. I wonder if the cell phone will ring and if he'll call
back on the landline. It was 1:34 when he said he would.

Can't do a reset until I figure out which folder I will put each app,
utilities, maps, bank/credit card, radio/tv/music, travel. Right now
they are in no logical order.

The only time I really need the cell is when I take a nap before 6 PM
and my ex-girlfriend calls me to talk. She pretty much only talks to me
when she walks and that's usually 6-7:30, but when she changes or
cancels it she doesn't warn me. What a pain she can be. So she calls
on the landline and if I'm asleep she calls on the cell, which I put
right by the bed and it wakes me up.

I guess I have to turn the bell on for the landline by the bed, and then
spammers will wake me when I'm trying to sleep. Some days I get 6
calls, some days none.

Excuse me for ranting.

I don't think I understand this. You don't organize your apps, you
organize the icons for your apps, so it doesn't matter when you do that
task. The usual way, AFAIK, is to install your apps, then over time you
organize their icons by creating folders and dragging icons into those
folders.

This is compiled, annotated, and posted for the benefit of everyone
who wants to learn how to manage Android homescreen folders efficiently.

It gets even better than that if you simply do NOT delete an APK once
installed (it's just a setting to not delete it in the play store client).

<https://i.postimg.cc/3r0yNRcT/network02.jpg> network tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/BZwR6gXc/buy02.jpg> shopping tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/CMmSsgtN/maps01.jpg> map tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/CxTxzsfC/sys01.jpg> system tools folder

<https://i.postimg.cc/fRNg5hn0/audio01.jpg> audio tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/fTFcQ5d4/dock.jpg> dock tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/pLFpXfMP/maps07.jpg> maps offline/online sections
<https://i.postimg.cc/rmvDBN8Q/files01.jpg> file management tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/vTQ13DcK/apk01.jpg> installation tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/vZmTvPZx/maps02.jpg> map folder traffic section
<https://i.postimg.cc/WpM4FM5t/web01.jpg> web tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/XvN1Scvj/video01.jpg> video tools folder
<https://i.postimg.cc/Zn73yqm1/network03.jpg> network tools server section

If you like, you can store the apks you've installed on your sdcard
mkdir web
Which contains, for example:
ungoogled.chromium.apk
duckduckgo.browser.apk
tor.browser.apk
etc.
mkdir map
Which contains, for example:
osmand.apk
mapfactor.navigator.apk
lexa.fake.gps.apk
etc.
mkdir telecom
Which contains, for example:
fair.mail.apk
k-9.mail.apk
pulse.sms.apk
etc.

Then, you organize your homescreen once in a decade or two in the
order above (what you do on a phone or computer never changes much).

And you save that organization (e.g., nova launcher saves it).

When you get a new phone, you just replicate it in one fell swoop.
Voila!

Different phone, same homescreen.
Different phone, same apps.
Different phone, same organization.
etc.

Life on Android is good when you know what you're doing.
