gap. As we improve, they will be building on what they've
already got.

What we NEED therefore are good DEFENSES against hypersonics.
Look-down satellites COULD follow them, negating the stealth
factor. However intercepting such a fast-moving, presumably
maneuverable, object is a serious issue. Big lasers could,
but how many big lasers can you deploy and WHERE ? Small AI
interceptors are the better idea - easier to make, easier to
deploy all around, and sheer volume helps with the miss ratio.
